Guest guest
We're in the same boat. I'm over 12 months. Sucks. I started Forteo 6 weeks ago and the results seemed encouraging. My OS would not but my primary was willing to Rx it. Hardest part was getting insurance to OK it (Prior approval needed). Since saw an Endocrinologist who treats bone density with Forteo and generally works w/ bone health issues. He would have also Rx'd so is monitoring me. Guest guest
That's sounds encouraging. I gather the fractures were because of Osteoporosis?
Guest guest
I have CMT type 2. In my case the cuboid, navicular and cuneiforms were broken up as a result of CMT. The doctors explained that my nerve loss resulted in muscle loss in the foot, and the body stops sending calcium to the bones, which become brittle and break up. I think I had broken bones (Charcot joint) for at least 3 years before I had a full foot fusion in 2006. I recently (Monday) had a second surgery to realign the foot so I'll hopefully have fewer blisters and wounds and can buy shoes that don't resemble Herman Munster boots.
