Guest guest
Have you been on doxycycline yet? It cut my pain down to a manageable level within a few weeks. I'm not sure it was the same type of pain you describe, but it hurt everywhere, and it was excruciating, and very high doses of NSAIDs did not touch it at all. Everybody talks about brain fog and other lyme symptoms, but I don't see anyone ever talk about severe neuropathic pain over your legs and arms and back. My daughter wears a narcotic patch, takes antibiotics, takes some natural stuff. We are going to start using some of the Buhner protocol. Our doctor says she sees a lot of deep muscle and bone pain with babesia. My daughter does get some relief with the far infrared sauna, and that helps, and we are going to start acupuncture (again). I'm pretty sure the narcotics are becoming less effective rather than the pain getting worse - but she is on a very high dose. I know Makayla is not in the amount of pain she was in before - but have other people gotten over this kind of pain? I need some kind of hope here. Thanks! Guest guest
Hi Carmel, I`ve had tremendous neuro pain. ALL over my body. When I was diagnosed 18 months ago , there wasn`t a single cell that did not hurt so bad I was in tears.mostly in arms legs and back.... It has slowly subsided with treatment. I still have some but it is very manageable. Never took narc. for it ....couldn`t afford it....just TONS of Ibuprofen. But it WILL get better ! in WV DeMarco <ponyrubs@...> wrote: Have you been on doxycycline yet? It cut my pain down to a manageable level within a few weeks. Guest guest
MSM might possibly help. There's a popular book out there called The Miracle of MSM -- The Natural Solution for Pain that I'm going to pick up soon. Somebody posted an article about MSM on the LS group in the last month or so and the benefits were a mile long! I only started taking a small amount a few days ago, in combination with Glucosamine. The latter Buhner has recommended for collagen repair. But the first time I took it I laid down to take a nap afterwards and felt a nice relaxation throughout my muscles. I see Buhner mentioned glucosamine has some pain-relieving properties as well, so that may be why I felt some effects so fast. MSM contains sulfur, and here's one description of sulfur's effects. http://www.healthcatchers.com/sulfur.html Benefits & Deficiency Symptoms Sulfur is known as a healing mineral. Sulfur aids every cell in the elimination of toxic substances through agitation. Sulfur aids in enzyme reactions and protein synthesis. Sulfur also plays an important role in cellular respiration. Sulfur is the flexible bond that connects cells; Sulfur is the lubricant found between joints. A deficiency of water-soluble Sulfur can lead to a variety of conditions ranging from skin irritations and rashes to total breakdown of cellular regeneration. Pain and inflammation associated with various muscle and skeletal disorders indicate a deficiency of Sulfur. It is believed that Sulfur can repair the myelin sheath, the protector on the end of every nerve in the body. Damage to the myelin sheath causes the shaking condition in palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Lorenzo's Disease and many other disease conditions where motor functions are uncontrollable. Chronic or severe allergies to materials such as dust, pollen, wool, animal hair, feathers, etc. (with symptoms ranging from respiratory congestion to inflammation, itching and general discomfort) can be relieved with Sulfur. It increases blood circulation, reduces back pain, and relieves migraine headaches. Sulfur promotes muscle healing. Sulfur scavenges free radicals, beautifies the skin, and relieves allergies to food. Sulfur also controls acidity in stomach ulcers. Sulfur is important for carbohydrate metabolism and speeds wound healing. Sulfur is stored in the brain, nerves, bowel, liver and in all body cells, especially in the skin, hair and nails. Some Symptoms of Sulfur Deficiency: Arthritis, asthma, acne, back pain, constipation, circulatory problems, dry skin, free radical damage, inflammation, infection, migraines, muscle pain, nerve disorders, stress, skin disorders, urinary tract disorders, various muscle and skeletal disorders, and wrinkles. ****** in AK Have you been on doxycycline yet? Guest guest
Hi ,LDN can take weeks, months, and even a year or more to achieve its full therapeutic potential. In some cases, a halt to disease progression is all that can be accomplished.Have you been checked for diabetes? That is a condition that frequently causes neuropathic pain. Also, instead of trying to directly treat MS-related symptoms, I think your wisest course of action would be to employ, in addition to LDN, a comprehensive approach that includes a diet low in saturated fat (like the Best Bet Diet), exercise, detoxification, a low stress lifestyle, food supplements, glyconutrients, and a host of other things that some MSers have found very helpful. For more information, visithttp://tinyurl.com/grpm9 All the best, Dudley Delany dudley_delanyFrom: mclea1972 Sent: Tuesday, February 12, 2008 8:57 AM low dose naltrexone Subject: [low dose naltrexone] neuropathic pain Good Day Everyone, I am wondering if anyone has taken anything along with their LDN. To help the burning, tingling neuropathic pain ie: feet, hands etc? I tried R-alpha lipoic acid and it did nothing. So I am looking for other suggestions. Aslo has anyone found that ldn over time has helped ease the severity of their neuropathy? Thanks again.

Guest guest
I had a bad reaction to r-lipoic-acid - it made me feel worse! - but got good results with regular (racemic, i.e., not " r " but a mix of both isomers) alpha lipoic acid, even though the pure " r " is supposed to be better. This leads me to suspect that they are different. You might try the non-r stuff - it's cheaper, anyway. Try 600 mg a day. I dissolve it in flavored fish oil & let it sit in my mouth (under my tongue & inside my cheeks) for several minutes before swallowing so it gets absorbed buccally, but that may be a little extreme for some people. It really seems to help my feet. > > Good Day Everyone, > > I am wondering if anyone has taken anything along with their LDN. To > help the burning, tingling neuropathic pain ie: feet, hands etc? Guest guest
I have been buying all my antioxidants from iherb.com for about 7 years and having them shipped to me in Australia, though now to avoid the cost of DHL and potential hassles and costs with Australian Customs I have them sent to a friend in the US who sends them to me using USPS. In all that time I have found iherb's service to be great and prices competitive. I could possibly find another site who may be cheaper but would not want to risk losing the great service iherb provide. Guest guest
Neuropathic pain. Acta Clin Croat. 2009 Sep;48(3):359-65. Basiæ-Kes V, Zavoreo I, Bosnar-Puretiæ M, Ivankoviæ M, Bitunjac M, Govori V, Demarin V. University Department od Neurology, Reference Center for Neurovascular Disorders, Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Republic of Croatia, Sestre milosrdnice University Hospital, Zagreb. Neuropathic pain refers to pain that originates from pathology of the nervous system. Common causes of neuropathic pain are diabetes mellitus, reactivation of herpes zoster, nerve compression or radiculopathy, alcohol, chemotherapy or abuse of some drugs, and trigeminal neuralgia. Specific symptoms of neuropathic pain are mechanical allodynia and cold hyperalgesia. Drugs to treat neuropathic pain can be divided into adjuvant analgesics (antidepressants and anticonvulsants), opioids and topical agents. The use of multiple drug therapies is common in practice. Despite considerable increase in the number of randomized placebo-controlled trials in neuropathic pain in the last few years, the medical treatment of neuropathic pain is still far from being satisfactory, with less than half of patients achieving significant benefit with any pharmacological drug.
