Guest guest
Hello Everyone, I am new to the group and I am so glad I found it. My son with DS was diagnosed with ASD 1 year ago Let me introduce my self. My name is Marlee I live in Oregon.I am married with 3 children.I have a typical 6 year old girl, is a 4 year old boy with DS/ASD. and a typical 2 year old boy. I am also trying to potty train with little success. When some of your kids did some of your kids get potty trained, or have they at all. Next year is graduating from EI and will be entering Kindergarten. This scares me. I have a friend with a 6 year old boy with DS/ASD that started kindergarten. She said it is like her son is just being babysat. Lookinforward to your feedback Marlee mikeandmarlee@...
Guest guest
Welcome Marlee. I too felt like my son's school may be just glorified babysitting. I made sure I told the team at school that I do have high expectations of Connor (1st grade) and that they need to have that as well. Recently someone from the district came in to make the cirriculum " functional " . For us, that was exactly what we wanted. It's a slow process, but at least we heading in the right direction. Baby steps! Good luck. Pam (mom to Connor 7, Ds/ASD in Naperville, Illinois) --------------------------------- You rock. That's why Blockbuster's offering you one month of Blockbuster Total Access, No Cost.
