Guest guest
Hi, Everyone.........Gareth is on Lexapro (15 mg) for the OCD. It is not the best for him....Luvox is. I am sure you know that you usually have to try several before finding one that works for your kid. Gareth was also dx'd with sine Scleroderma/UCTD 18 months ago and the psych doc said that Lexapro prevents depression, along with working on OCD issues. Depression is common with autoimmune diseases, I was told. Anyways, his doc won't put him back on Luvox because he is afraid he will go into a depression because it runs on DH's side of the family. Right now, this combo is working OK for him. Gareth was up through out the night till he was put on Risperdal at age 10. He has been on the same amt (1 mg morning & 1 mg at suppertime for the past 6 yrs. I have tried to decrease the amt and the anger/belligerence/defiance roars it's ugly head real quick. I know that isn't MY son......... We have a slogan here.....start low and go slow with meds. I know that with Gareth, if I gave him the dosages recommended for his age/wt, they would be much higher, but his behaviors get just as bad when the dosages are too high. It's such a fine line to walk. For him, the lower dosages seem to work the best. Zoloft is one of the meds he couldn't handle. I don't remember why, but I think it had to do with a rare side affect of bronchial asthma/bronchitis. It's been so long ago. I have a sheet of paper somewhere that has EVERY med tried and the side effects it caused and how well it worked. If I can find it, I will get back with you on that. <<He suddenly bolted across the play field to the 8' chain link fence.>> DH says it was ONLY a 6' fence. Sorry....but you get the idea!!! Take care, Everyone. Margaret **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms and advice on AOL Money & Finance.
