Guest guest
Hi , I'm Lisette mum to Sophie aged 9. We're in Canberra. Sophie was 5 when she got her ASD diagnosis. We employed a private psychologist to do the assessment. I think we asked Sophie's paediatrician, and therapists who were working with her for recommendations. There wasn't much choice as only two people in Canberra did private assessments and one only worked part time! The assessment appears to be done differently in the different states. I would ask around - paediatrician, GP, therapists - to get an idea of who does the assessments in Queensland and get a feel for what is available and who is good.
