Guest guest
OK. I went to the trisomy 21 symposium in Phila today. it started out with a cool self advocate girl who has DS only and I think she swam the English channel. Then there was a positive behavior speech and that made sense. They had the usual bagel, coffee, pastries and fruit. The speech person was good. She had some neat ideas with calendars and pictures of activites that the your child has for a nice schedule. Then they hada nutritional person who talked more about being obese than healthy, I wished she talked more about avacodoes or something creative. Then they had a great lunch in a box, with cool salads and sandwiches. I enjoyed this. I did sit with a woman who had 16 children, 9 of her own and seven adopted. She had lots to say as I would guess she would. Then I went to a sexuality and adolescence breakout session and they more talked about the girls who of course are going to have lots of issues. The situations were funny and it was a good open group. Then I went to the big session that I wanted to go to ALL day. The DUAL DX thing. Dr. Pippin talked about development from birth to age three and how some things do not go so well for certain children. I felt she hardly touched on the Dual dx thing, or maybe she was just tired. She also said that there was no research which is false, Capone is doing research. Sigh... Sort of a let down, except I got to talk to some great parents and liked that. I did get a parking pass and the parking was free. Regina Sarno (I think I will ask for more or run a seminar myself next year) Dual dx.....coem on CHOP we need help!!!
