Guest guest
Hi Everyone; I'm more of a lurker than a poster; however I have posted on occasion. In addition to parenting a child with Down Syndrome and Aspergers I teach at a small private college in Missouri. This semester I'm teaching Education of the Exceptional Child. I like the idea of my students being able to view a parent support list serve so they get an understanding of the day to day realities of working with a child with an exceptionality. But I understand that this can compromise the purpose and needs of the parent group. With that in mind, I'm wondering what you'd like me to share with my class. What do you think they need to know as regular education teachers? I feel like I have a great opportunity here to really hit home with a group of future teachers. So I welcome any and all of your thoughts and input. Perhaps if we impact just one my students it will make a positive and meaningful difference in the lives of one of our children. Thanks, (mom to Jon, 16 years old DS and Aspergers)
