Guest guest
Has anyone had this done. They cut the calf open and stretch the tendon and then put in a hard cast for 4 weeks. Doing it to get some relief. Have tried everything. Tamara
Guest guest
Tamara, I have had good results with Citicoline. I buy it online at viticost.com . I can't say why it helps with tendons but it has.

Guest guest
I can't say for sure but it worked for me. Maybe the choline is something I am lacking? Guest guest
Tamarra, I asked Glen Pfeffer, MD (orthopepdist and CMT surgeon at Cedars in Los Angeles) about this. Here is his reply " If appropriate the Strayer is a good way to go in a patient who has a contracture that only involves the Gastroc calf muscle. The simple surgery releases the tight fascia over the muscle, letting the muscle stretch out. It is a trendy operation now, but is rarely appropriate for a patient with CMT. CMT patients usually have a contracture of both calf muscles, so the Strayer is not going to help. Furthermore, many people with CMT don't need any release of the calf muscle. In that case, the surgery will only serve to further weaken the already weak calf muscles. Sorry not to be more definitive, but it is a hard call. If a surgeon who really knows what he/she is doing suggests the Strayer, then go for it. " > >
