Guest guest
Were the kale chips really crispy? Couldn't tell from photos. I kept hoping you would pick up a couple and maybe even pop them in your mouth. I am surprised the sunnies tasted like kale. Did you mix them in with the kale before baking?  I didn't plant my Aerogardens yet, Melody, because I was going to be gone for a week, but then tonight I was reading about it more and saw that new fertilizer and addition of water was when the light comes on which is in about 2 weeks. I had no idea only had to water every 2 weeks. I figured every few days. I got 2 more from Craigslist and put in an ad for a large one which probably won't be available, but no harm trying. I want one for tall plants and hate to buy a new one. But they do have a buy one and get 50% off anything else one buys supposedly. I was so tempted. But I figure I better give these 3 a chance first. i do have to scrub the 2 I bought particularly well and clean it out. The new one won't be so complicated. I was surprised that they clean them with chlorox rather than with vinegar or peroxide.  I ordered some blueberry bushes and some strawberry plants and they were supposed to send them at proper season, but they sent now. Growing season here for them is the fall. We will have to get them in the ground in next 2 days and water them in well. Supposed to get them watered while gone but hate to count on someone. No one seems to understand that in FL seasons are backwards in some ways. Might be able to get 2 seasons out of it but best is in the fall months.  I didn't know what to do and put my strawberry bare root plants in the refrigerator. Couldn't just leave out but can't leave in the fridge for a week as I'm afraid they will dry out. The blueberry plants are actually green and are in just little balls of dirt in 2 very small planters. I think we'll just put them directly in the ground.   Maybe I need to check with on those since she has the " farm " . I am getting a bit ahead of myself.   Time is going too fast. I hope to have the chance to play " bee " later on. I am definitely going to have to try kale chips. They were recommended when I was going to Craig. Are they hard enough to use with a dip or salsa? We have been eating a type of corn chip that has no GMO and no cholesterol and no trans fats. They have no salt either and are incredibly good. problem is that I like them with a cheese spread on top and sometimes with salsa or tomatoes. Cheese spread is the problem. Thank you for sharing the kale chips. Guest guest
melody.....this is what keeps us young and keeps life exciting !.....my husband and i just successfully baked bread ( 4 small individual loaves ) on the open campfire this past summer and thought that we were just pretty darned puffed up about it we cooked kale on the cast iron griddle on the open fire too and it was really great.....there is a fellow down the road who grows and sells organic vegetables and has fresh kale to offer and i'm going to go get some and make chips.....i'm so pleased that you posted this yes, and i think that it is wonderful that you still find sprouting to be such fun after doing it for all this time.....i still find solar cooking to be exciting every time i do it and learn something new about it after 5 years.....just " follow your bliss " ( joseph campbell ).....peace, mary > > > > > > Well today was absolutely fascinating. Guest guest
Thank you . It's amazing the different reactions I get when people see me and my sprouts. Most of them think I'm crazy for going through all this trouble. I say " what trouble " ?? They just shrug But I love the ones that eagerly want to hear about my sprouting adventures and just sit there and listen and smile and then I give them my sprouts, and my sunnies and whatever else I grew and I even gave my neighbor a piece of my True Orange Pie. She was SMILING!!! Love those smiles Melody
