Guest guest
We have rocket too but we call it a different name. I can't remember now what it is but I saw it and it will be omething you recognize. I just can't remember. I did see it in one of the mixes on Sprouthouse.  Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Tuesday, June 5, 2012 5:12 PM Subject: Re: Onion sprouts  Being from the UK, I try to stock up on various seeds when I visit there, but each year I do a seed exchange with several people-they can't get what I have, and I can't get what they have, so it works well for all of us! Guest guest
 I bought some exotic seeds from sprout house or whatever it is. Had onions and garlic and 2 other kinds of sprouts and was about $19.95. Problem is that the shipping was cose to the same. Looking forward to the packages. Packed separately and not all together so can choose which one to use.  Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Tuesday, June 5, 2012 2:32 PM Subject: Re: Onion sprouts  I bought two tiny packets of organic sprouting garlic chives. Each packet has just six grammes weight, and cost me £3 each (yes, that expensive). I've grown about half of one packet, they took 14 days but they tasted amazing. Onion sprouts are definately on my list from sprout people. I'll be ordering the more exotic seeds that are either extortionately expensive here or are hard to find. Guest guest
How can 1/2 lb be $19.86 and 5 lbs be $14.58 which is lower?  That doesn't make sense unless it is not the same level of goodness. Sue the shipping is more but can't imagine that difference in the price.  Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Tuesday, June 5, 2012 12:41 PM Subject: Re: Onion sprouts  I just deleted my original reply, in case anybody read it already. I meant to say 1/2 lb. of onion seeds alone ($19.86) would be $11.91 shipping, while 5 lbs. of seed is $14.58. So that's why I'll wait until I can place a larger order to make it more worthwhile. Dona > The shipping cost is why I'm not using SproutPeople at this point; you have to order several pounds of seeds to make the shipping cost more reasonable, and I'm not ready for much quantity yet. I wish they offered smaller quantities, because they do have about the best selection. I am waiting expectantly for my SproutGarden today. > > > > Dona >
Guest guest
Probably won't have pennies before long. I can't remember which company it was but one did away with pennies. They round down in customer's favor. So if it s $4.94 it costs $4.90 and forget the 4 cents. Said it saved them millions of dollars by getting rid of pennies. Somehow in the counting or whatever saved them that much. If someone sends a check exact or is charged, then it is the set price but if paying in cash, they round it down to the lower 5 cent mark. Guess the nickel will be the new penny.  That is probably what happened to tuppence, too. Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Tuesday, June 5, 2012 8:40 PM Subject: Re: Onion sprouts  What happened to Shillings?? No more Shillings??? lol I used to watch english films years ago and they said things like 2 pounds sterling, Tuppence etc. I always found it fascinating. We have boring stuff like pennies and nickels. lol lol Melody > > > get for the three dollar and change price? > > > > > > > > And the 500 gram container? How big is 500 gram. Guest guest
So you are ble to say you have a friend in Yorkshire? Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Tuesday, June 5, 2012 8:43 PM Subject: Re: Onion sprouts  Do you have any idea how lovely it is to hear someone say: 'My friend in Yorkshire " . Oh, I just realized you and Charlotte must have an English accent? And I'm from Brooklyn. And I know I sound like I'm from Brooklyn. How fascinating. lol, Melody > > > > > > > > > Being from the UK, I try to stock up on various seeds when I visit there, but each year I do a seed exchange with several people-they can't get what I have, and I can't get what they have, so it works well for all of us! Guest guest
That does make more sense. I just thought it was strange with the price difference. Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Tuesday, June 5, 2012 8:58 PM Subject: Re: Onion sprouts  The $14.58 is shipping cost for five pounds, not seed cost. Sorry to confuse. I was trying to make the point that larger quantities are more economical to ship at SproutPeople.
