Guest guest
We went out for a very late lunch/early dinner yesterday and had something at the restaurant that would translate well for sprouts too. It was green beans with carrot striips and zucchini strips (very narrow like little carrot strips. Not sure how they get them that small as not like a peel of carrot or zucchini. Had seasoning and was sort of like a stir fry of veggies and was very good. It was undersome orange chicken. It probably picked up a bit of orange and orange rind (very think like other) and just on top. But when I was eating it (all strips in same direction) I thought how good it was and how nice some sprouts would be on top. Iassume it was zucchini but could have been a bit of cucumber but I think it was zucchini. It was good as it was though. That was the vegetable. It would have been prettier on top instead of on bottom but might have picked up more of the orange flavor.  I am intrigued with the last recipe mentioned with the big round loaf of bread. We don't have that many people but a good bun that is uncut might be nice for one person. Instead of feeling lik I had to eat with a fork, I might put that cream cheese and sprouts inside a layer instead of on the top where I'd have my fingers on it. but it sounded so good. I wish my husband were interested in sprouts so we could both eat the same things. But there may be too much in them as he can't have potassium or it seems like anything that is really good for a person. It is sure dfferent on dialysis.  Carolyn Wilkerson  ________________________________ To: sproutpeople Sent: Friday, June 15, 2012 10:07 PM Subject: Re: Bump - Still Looking for Suggestions  Honestly, after making patties, putting them in sandwiches, having salads, I myself would like to know if anyone has done other things with them. I know they put them in green smoothies. And besides patties, I have done stir fries using the sunnies, pea shoots and adding zucchini and other veggies, add some garlic and onions and my on my, they are good. Oh, I had something new for dinner the other day. I'm all about finding new greens to cook. I've done the bok choy and other greens from my asian market. But the other night I had a batch of escarole. And after cleaning thorougly and leaving in a strainer I decided to do something a bit different. I chopped up lots of tomatoes (these were little grape tomatoes). I added a bit of olive oil and garlic and cooked the tomatoes well. Then, I threw in the escarole, added a bit more Garlic paste and put a lid on it. I cooked it for 20 minutes on low. I then took the cover off and blended all the ingredients so they all mixed. Smelled wonderful. Well, when I tasted it I said " wow, another good one " . So the next time I make escarole that way, toward the end of the cooking cycle, I'm throwing in the pea shoots and any other shoots I have. I'm calling it steamed escarole tomato shoots!! lol Melody > > > > As a guilty confession, this is the first time I've thought about what I eat, and only because of health concerns not previously known. I would really appreciate some of you sharing your favorite ways to incorporate sprouts into your diets. Since I don't really know how to cook, I'm not very creative about what to do with these things beyond putting in salads. I will try Melody's sprout patties once I have some sprouts to use. Thanks. > > > > Dona > > >
