Guest guest
Then he would probably like radish sprouts too.  Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Sunday, May 20, 2012 12:36 AM Subject: Re: Curious about vegatable sprouts  Hi -- I've tried some of the veggies you mentioned: -carrots -- long sprouting time (2 weeks+ if I recall); not easily available in sprouting quantities; nice mild carroty flavor -beets -- beautiful lightly sweet maroon/deep red sprouts; rocky hulls that can be difficult to pick off. Lovely complement to a salad but a bit of work. -corn -- nice for grassy yellow blanched (unsunned) sweet shoots for pretty garnishes but not a routine sprout for me Never tried cucumber. Now that would be an interesting venture. hmm. Onion and garlic take almost 2 weeks also but they are exquisite. These are my husband's favorites; each single sprout has that strong allium flavor and they truly hold their own in meals. Molly has anyone sprouted carrot, beets, cucumber corn, etc sprouts and how have they turned out? >>

Guest guest
Stay away from anything in the Solanaceae (nightshade) family; ie, tomatoes, peppers, egg plants, potato. The plants are toxic. ew Re: Curious about vegatable sprouts Ew, Is there other sprouts that I should stay away from? eg. watermelon/melon or? As I said before I am new to sprouting so I been wanting to try any and everything, However and I are on a very limited income so anything that can save us $ would be greatly appreciated.
