FAT-FIGHTER Simon from Portland will be showing what can be achieved

through NHS Dorset's weight loss programme after shedding more than five stone.

Mr , 31, will be interviewed by the South West Government office after

dropping from 20 stone to 14.3 stone after completing the Healthy Choices

programme.

This is a joint initiative with NHS Dorset, who fund the 12-week obesity-busting

scheme, and commercial weight loss companies.

The dad-of-two, who will be talking to South West Government representatives in

a review on March 4, followed a diet plan and attended weekly group sessions

with Slimming World.

Mr , of Rufus Way, was diagnosed with a hereditary disease called

Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease which effects the foot and lower leg muscles.

The former chef said that working on his feet all day took its toll and in 2006

he had to leave his job.

He later became a stay-at-home dad for his two daughters that he has with his

fiancée .

Mr said: " When I went to my GP to discuss my weight I was expecting a gym

referral rather than a programme like this but I thought I'd give it a go

because I had nothing to lose.

" My problem used to be crisps, chocolate and packet food where sometimes I'd eat

up to seven bags of crisps a day, " Then when I stopped working, the weight just

piled on.

" Now I've cut out all the junk food and my meals are healthier and everything is

freshly made.

" I've gone from a 40 waist to a 30 waist and I'm aiming to get to 14 stone.

" This has totally changed my life and I'm a different person now, emotionally

and physically. "

Amy Paterson, the health programme adviser for NHS Dorset, said they had chosen

Mr to talk about the programme in the review because of the results he had

achieved.

" The peer review comes from the South West Government office so they can have a

look at what we have in place and what else we could be doing.

" We have been asked to bring in a range of people who are involved in the

programme and we asked Simon because he is doing so well. It's fantastic to see

the results he's achieved. "
