Guest guest
Thanks Gretchen, Shes feeling better today :0) The Atenol about did her in,she was soooo sick from that crap! They have her on Diovan and another pill that I still forgot to get the name of but it is suspossed to make her heart not have to work as hard. She has a leaky valve and there going to do a test to see how bad the leak is today,I hope that it's not as bad as they think because her heart is in really good shape otherwise,no heart attacks or blockages. We have Dr 's book and the list of med's but getting anyone to look at them is freakin hard,it's like they think she is making it all up! We hope she will be home this weekend, her BP was down to 182/79 or so this morning but when she takes the Diovan and the other it goes up for a while but is coming down in the mornings. Thanks for replying! Russ
Guest guest
Russ, So sorry to hear about Geri. These are some BP medications members have said they take without problems: Ramipril (Altace), Diovan (Valserta), Fursemide (Lasix), Digoxin (Digitalis). Do you have a copy of the list of Medications to avoide (in general)? If not, go to http://www.charcot-marie-tooth.org/med_alert.php click on the highlighted 6 page Medical Alert Table. Print all this off for her doctors. We are not medical experts here, but we have learned (and are still learning) what to avoid. And then, we're all different in our reactions. I would think switching her meds around to fact would whack out her blood pressure anyway. I would also hope thhe doctors begin with the smallest dose possible. Have they checked her electrolyte levels and her heart in general? Has her diet included salt and fats? Too much is not good for BP. I send my best for a good outcome and for Geri to be home soon. Guest guest
Russ, My son has CMT X & I'm the mother (carrier). Before I went for minor surgery, I was asked to take Metropolol or Atenolol. I reacted to it by having mouth/tongue sores. I'm taking now Avapro aand Tiazac T for my hypertension. Maybe, she can asked first her doctor if she's able to use it.
