Guest guest
Quanine Sulfate in pill form will help with leg cramps. See if your doctor will prescribe for you. If not, you can buy them from Canada on line. A standard quinine pill contains 324 mg of quinine. Studies of quinine for leg cramps have used 200 to 500 mg of quinine per dose. Tonic water, on the other hand, is reported to contain only about 20 mg of quinine per 8-ounce glass. Please do your research to weigh out the pros and cons first though and discuss with your doctor. From 1969 to 1992, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) received 157 reports of healthproblems related to quinine use, including 23 which had resulted in death.[21] In 1994, the FDA banned the use of over-the-counter (OTC) quinine as a treatment for nocturnal leg cramps. Pfizer Pharmaceuticals had been selling the brand name * Legatrin * for this purpose. Doctors may still prescribe quinine, but the FDA has ordered firms to stop marketing unapproved drug products containing quinine. The FDA is also cautioning consumers about off-label use of quinine to treat leg cramps. Quinine is approved for treatment of malaria, but is also commonly prescribed to treat leg cramps and similar conditions. Also on a supplemental level, Magnesium and Calcium should help. Another thought is to ask your doctor about prescription Mirapex. Gretchen
