Vanguard school, autism spectrum school in PA

OK, just got back from the Vanguard school in Paoli area of PA.

Beautiful, spectrum needs go from kids in closed workshops to kids

going to OXford college in England. Wow! I said. 240 kids in school.

BEAUTIFUL campus, cost over $38,000.

The problem is due to STAtE licensing. The primary dx cannot be

Mental Retardation, due again to licensing. OK if you have a dual dx,

and be careful people, does MR come first or does autism come first????

Is this a chicken or the egg question and be careful not all people

with DS are MR.

If you have autism, in other words if it looks like a duck, quacks

like a duck then it's a duck, then how does anyone know if your dx is

primarily MR or Autism???
