Guest guest
Diane, I can not offer any help with diagnosis but I can hear the concern and fear in your voice. Who among us have not been there. You are doing the right thing taking him to see the doctor. You could always try googling sites and read med books but they may get you even more worked up. Just go see the doctor and hopefully he will shed some light on what is going on. Since he is 13yrs old he could be starting puberty and his hormones could be kicking in and he may need his thyroid looked at by the endocrine who will give him a thorough check up. Just some thoughts or it could be as simple as a urinary tract etc . Try not to think the worse. Let us know how it goes. Prayers that God will calm your anxious heart. **************Gas prices getting you down? Search AOL Autos for fuel-efficient used cars. Guest guest
Thank you so much for your understanding words. I took Aidan to see his Ped and the first thing he did was check his oxygen sats - great at 97% on room air. Next his temp - slightly elevated. Next he checked for nodes - neck, arm pit, gtoin, then checked to see if he could feel any enlarging of the liver. All was pretty good. So we did a urine check - no blood, slight protein. And we just got back from a whole series of bloodwork, which the lab is supposed to get results asap today to our dr. He could see the fear in me and said quietly, let's just breathe and not jump to conclusions. He knows me well... On the lab requisition the word " malignancy? " (with the question mark) was written... Aidan has been in puberty for about 18 months now but, you're right, , it could definitely be related. SO I will just breathe and try to concentrate on something else this afternoon until I hear... Thanks for your prayers - I will let you know the outcome. /diane keith9164@... wrote: Diane, I can not offer any help with diagnosis but I can hear the concern and fear in your voice. Guest guest
Diane, Personally the L word scares the crap out of me as well. We went through a scare last year and remarkably, I was calmer than I thought I would be. Luckily, Jake was fine. I can only tell you that what ever the circumstance, you will get through it, and we are always here to support. Sending prayers to you and for Aidan. Let us know how things are going. There are several on this site who have had to deal with Leukemia and I am sure they would have a lot to offer if you should need it. Hugs! Holly question on skin tone.... O.K. this seems weird. Aidan is 13 and while verbal, cannot use appropriate language to tell us things like that he's not feeling well, or is hurt somewhere. Early last week I thought his lips and face skin looked really close to the same colour - a bit greyish-yellow and pale. It was kinda a fleeting thought and I forgot about it. Then a day or two later, someone mentioned that Aidan's skin looked " off-colour " . Then at church on Sunday, 2 different people came up to me at different times and asked if Aidan was ok because his skin color was grey. Then a not comes home on Tues in his planner that several staff at school wondered if Aidan was ok due to, yup, you guessed it, his pale, grey skin tone! So, needless to say, I have called our p-doc and will be taking him in this morning - I didn't even think of it as an emergency because altho' Aidan appears to have a low grade consistent fever, less of an apetite and isn't voiding as frequently, he just doesn't seem sick. So...now I have myself all worked up about what might possibly be wrong? My stomache is actually in knots thinking about taking him and I'm pretty sure he will need to go for bloodwork - another trauma! I guess the " L " word just keeps spinning in my mind and I just needed some prayers ... thanks a bunch /diane diane " You must be the CHANGE that you want to see in the world " -- Mahatma Gandhi
Guest guest
Diane, What about what he has been eating? If kids eat to much carrots or sweet potatoes it changes their skin tone? If kids do not eat enough meats/proteins it changes the skin, etc. My MD is in being a mom and googling Web MD but I know these change skin tones. My son has had lab work that said Malignant and it did not mean anything serious. What I hate for you is that it is Friday and will more than likely be next week before you get the results.I will say a prayer for you. Did the ped give you and kind of and idea what he is thinking is going on?
