Guest guest
Hi All, I'm pretty new to this group. Have been reading the emails mostly and would like to say how much y'all (can you tell I live in the south?) have helped me to not feel so alone. We have 4 kids, our second is our daughter Lynae with the duel dx. She is 7 and still nonverbal. As I'm sure many of you can relate, she has a very adventurous spirit and today she was able to squeeze herself between the gates in our back yard and was gone. I ended up having to call the police and thankfully a neighbor 3 houses down and across a busy street saw her and called too so I knew someone had seen her. She made it into a golf course and clear to the other side. Thankfully there were people out on the course and helped me. And another woman stayed at my van with my other 3 kids. But my question is this, how do I train her that running away is wrong? She was having a blast! When she saw me she came right over and had a huge smile on her face. This is not the first time she has escaped. I feel like we already live in a fortress and have bells on all the doors so no one comes in or out without something ringing. I'm getting desperate to know how to keep her within limits. Do any of you have any training tools or advice? I sure could use it. And again, I'm so thankful for this group.
