Guest guest
Hi, all. This is a story from our 4 PAWS group. Not only is it an amazing story, but, as Shaugn said, it really shows that Autism knows no bounds. <http://groups.yahoo.com/group/4pawsfamilynetwork/message/21100;_ylc=X3oDMTJ zdjJ0Z2JjBF9TAzk3MzU5NzE1BGdycElkAzIwNjAxMTc4BGdycHNwSWQDMTcwNzI5NDk5NARtc2d JZAMyMTEwMARzZWMDZG1zZwRzbGsDdm1zZwRzdGltZQMxMjA5MzEyMjUw> Donations from the opposite ends of the earth! Back in 2001 my husband & I spend over a year @ the South Pole Station in Antarctica. That is my only claim to fame. I am one of only 156 woman to have ever wintered @ the Pole. That is so beside the point though. So their were 50 of us down @ the station when we were there. 3 of these guys we wintered with in 2001 are currently down their now. Oh, I should explain winter in Antarctica first. Summer is late Oct. to Feb. 14th. In the summer full all the time. There is one full month of sunset in March & one full month of Sunrise in Sept. Winter includes sunrise & sunset & 24 hours a day for five months. Winter starts on Feb. 14th, this is when the last plane leaves the Pole. The first plane to return is late October. Although when we were there in was two weeks longer then expected because 9-11 happened and the air guard was too busy to come get us right away. So this year I believe there is 54 people wintering. Steffen is his name and he has a very cool website with a page tear for Trapper and 4 Paws. I didn't even know what this was until I saw his site. The site is <http://www.adventure-antarctica.de/> http://www.adventure-antarctica.de/ Well, he is taking donations at the South Pole! He wrote me this morning and said he called to see if she received his donation. I wonder if she realized where he was calling from? He was on a Satellite phone on the bottom of the earth. He also collected another $100 donation this morning and is trying to get even more before sending it on it's way to 4 Paws in honor of Trapper. I just have to smile when I think these wonderful people are fund raising to help our son @ literately the ends of the earth. Knowing this just brightened my day today. I love hearing about all of you who are getting ready to introduce your children to their dogs. I can only imagine how excited you all are. I cannot wait to hear all about it! God Bless. - Jami www.4pawsfortrapper.com
