Guest guest
, I have only sprained my ankle once, however it hurt like he**, so off to the foot orthopedist for X rays to check is anything was broken. Nothing was, so I began the RICE approach for treatment, a bit modified. I didn't use crutches, and I did this for about a month, daily without fail. I didn't have physical therapy, instead I amended my aquatics program with some light ankle exercises and the rocket board/resistance, plus wore a different pair of shoes in water and on land. Rest, Ice and especially compression made a big difference. The ice really helped. About 8 weeks later the sprain/hurt was no longer there. If your ankle has not healed and you have done RICE, I'd suggest you see an orthopedist. Gretchen RICE approach Rest--You may need to rest your ankle, either completely or partly, depending on how serious your sprain is. Use crutches for as long as it hurts you to stand on your foot. Ice--Using ice packs, ice slush baths or ice massages can decrease the swelling, pain, bruising and muscle spasms. Keep using ice for up to 3 days after the injury. Compression--Wrapping your ankle may be the best way to avoid swelling and bruising. You'll probably need to keep your ankle wrapped for 1 or 2 days after the injury and perhaps for up to a week or more. Elevation--Raising your ankle to or above the level of your heart will help prevent the swelling from getting worse and will help reduce bruising. Try to keep your ankle elevated for about 2 to 3 hours a day if possible.
Guest guest
Aren't bones that don't heal symptomatic of a charcot joint? I had it in my foot and there was no way the bones were ever going to heal. I had a fusion and so far it has worked out. O Ankle Sprain When you sprain your ankle and have CMT- Why does it take longer to heal and why do you get pain when it healed up? I sprained my left ankle last year.I have CMT 1A and man was I in pain and did not heal for a long time. My ankle was swelled up. Could not walk for almost a year. Went to physical therapy for 6 months. I'm still not healed because I get pain in that ankle. Any one had the same experience?
Guest guest
, It's funny because only cold and sharp things hurt my feet. I walked on a broken foot in college for months because I had no health insurance. I suspected it was broken with all the swelling and heat but was still able to tolerate the pain enough to walk to work which was a couple miles away.
