Guest guest
Margaret, has to wear a helmet to protect the open sore on his head and so he hits his face.We got braces to keep him from hitting his face and he takes them off.In open wound can go into staph/strep infection. He was already Diflucan,Omniceff, and an ointment on his head. Half of his face looks just as horrible as last time. Later on I will try to post his current picture. Since has been being treated since April for a strep infection that is attacking his antibodies there is a small chance that this is a strep infection in his face.We are concerned that he will get an open wound on his face that will not heal like on his head. For the head we went to a dermatologist who sent us to a wound care specialist and that was useless. The Dan doctor wants him to get HBOT treatments and she order them here but the Dr. here is playing around with getting them ordered. I keep calling and asking when and he keeps putting me off. We have no holistic docs here for children. This was 's last week of summer school and now he cannot go. Guest guest
I would be worried more about STAPH. My husband had MERSA last year which required EXTENSIVE treatment. If your doc is stalling on HBOT, call your state office for MEDICAID (Is on MEdicaid) and ask for help. My DH got alopecia areata from the cstaph, aantibiotic therapy, auotoimmune disorer, ect. HE still looks like a spotted pony with bald spots! How about a face guard on the helmet so he cannot reach his face but will have his hands free?? Guest guest
Sara, has a bald spots on the top of his head and an open wound that will not heal from the last time he had cellulitis.I am upset about that I sure do not want him to get an open wound on his face. just had cellulitis in Nov but it was nearly as bad.I posted pics of now and in July of 06 we he got cellulitis the 1st time. I asked about a face gaurd but the helmet was hard.If wore a hard helmet he would break the windows out of the car or bus. I have an email in to his DAN doc about putting him in the hospital with restraints and meds to kick start his healing process.I absolutely hate our childrens hospital but my son is miserable and we were awake all night because he was feeling bad.Last night the wound started to weep. I called the oncall nurse and told her that today I may put him into the hospital. I dread this. Cyndi B > > I would be worried more about STAPH. Guest guest
There are dressings OVER THE COUNTER which are the same in function as what we used in the hospital. They look like they are gel filled. Oncve applied, they stay on until they fall off. (Usually 3-5 days. See if you can find one the right size. They stick really tight so he may not be able to peel it off.
