HOWEVER, when I have had to have a root canal (due to a cracked tooth) it is impossible to get me numb. I've had a dozen shots of lidocaine and still feel it. It has been nice for me to hear that so many here have had the same problem because I know I'm not the hysterical type and I generally have a very high threshold for pain. My dentist thinks I'm a cowering whimp, which I have become in the dental chair! I do consider that my weirdness around dental anesthesia when I otherwise don't feel it when I'm injuring myself is probably related to CMT.
