I had a similar surgery at 19. It was a big success and I healed very quickly.

The time goes by quickly if you have something to do. Oh and after the nerve

block wears off make sure you take your pains meds on time or a little before

for a while. Not long but for a while. My son also had the surgery on both

feet. You will be okay :)

I had several fusion surgeries and a couple triple arthrodesis. It had to

be repeated 6 months later because it didn't fuse. A couple years later,

the fusions broke and it had to be repeated. Now, I suffer from more pain

from the surgeries then from before. I am on heavy pain meds and regret

ever having it done. I have heard some good stories so I hope I don't scare

you but I want you to hear both sides.

Hello

I guess, after having had two triple arthrodesis (orthrodesis?) procedures,

done, I qualify to answer your question, or at the very least, offer some help,

guidance and support.

I will say at the onset, that I'm glad that I went through both of these

procedures. It has changed the quality of my life tremendously. I can now walk

down a hallway without drifting left and right, because I now have ankle

stability and strength necessary to move about without the previous peril of

drifting, hitting things and falling down.

The trade off, is the pain you will endure while walking barefoot, or without

using the orthotics which your surgeon or orthotic expert will prescribe. I

whole heartedly recommend that you select this surgery, and while the down time

and non-weight bearing limits are long (in my case, both were 12 weeks) the end

result clearly justifies the means.

If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at your

earliest convenience. I wish you the best.

Sincerely,

Mark Boxshus

I've had three triple's, and I'm really glad I did. The first on the right ankle

failed over time and was repeated. The left one took and now I have a fairly

good base. I wear braces on both legs and continue to work full-time at 64.

You sound like a good candidate for the triple due to deformity. You may get a

better base and lose some pain.

Two weeks off work sounds a little short but it depends on what you do. You

also sound pretty tough and determined, which will help.

Best of luck,

Hi ,

I had the surgery years ago when I was in my early 20s and not suffering many

symptoms of CMT. Not only did they do the ankles, they also lengthened all

sorts of tendons, lowered arches and straightened toes. The big thing that I

would suggest is that you insist on PT afterward. I did not have any offered

and didn't know enough to ask for it. To this day, one of my ankles " locks up "

and doesn't want to move well on occasion.

The surgery really did help stop me from twisting my ankles all the time on the

least little thing.

Good luck!

My name is Christa and I have had that surgery done. I had mine done when I was

in high school which was over ten years ago. I can say that it was very

successful. If you have any questions I will try to help if I could.
