Irma,20,DS/ASD > > Well all nathan turned another year older on the 8th, sniff, my baby is 17years old, now we are trying to figure out gaurdianship and start the process of social security, on top of having huge differences with the highschool, as this is his first year there, uuugggh. had a huge birthday bbq, and enjoyed it immensely. Also, nathan has been showing great interest in driving our trucks lately, have to keep them locked and hide the keys. Well hubby felt bad he is only normal wanting to drive like others his age so took it upon himself to teach nathan how to drive the lawn mower, which nathan had a great time and took to it like a duck in water, lol, granted no blades are in use, and he has to stay in the yard, no roads, as cant even walk to school safely as of yet, seems to think he always has the right of way, lol. Anyways I posted some pics on my blog site below. maybe give some cheer around here. shawna > > > CLOCK : A small mechanical device to wake up those without children > > http://sewshawna.blogspot.com > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi a, A happy birthday to . Zeb drives his golf cart around our property. He has been driving it for about four years. He drives very well. He is begging to take drivers ed this year. He will be 16 in December. I will sign him up to take the course. I let him drive my car for a short distance in our backyard. We have acreage. He did ok for the first time, better than my daughter did her first time. Zeb's been telling me he is going to learn to drive for years. I have no doubt that he will learn. Driving on a public road may be a different story. We shall see. I do know a young woman with DS that recently got her license. It is possible. Guest guest
thankyou for the words of encouragement charlene! maybe someday, first we need to master actual reading, kind of hard to take a permit test if cant read the questions, he cant write either but just has to fill in the circles if i remember right. My 15year old, nicholas has been refusing to get his permit, no matter how much i've tried to encourage him, but night before last I got called in to a trauma, and it was a 16 year old and 15 year old major car accident, involving life flight etc. Anyways, when i got home a few hours later, I gave and big hugs and told nicholas he can wait until he is 18 for a license if he wants to and just take drivers ed at the community college that summer and I wont pester him anymore. I'm still encouraging him to get his permit so we can at least practice until he is ready. shawna http://sewshawna.blogspot.com
Guest guest
Hi a, You can take an oral drivers license test. There are many people that can not read. Zeb doesn't do too well in that area either. I filed due process this year for that reason.
