Related - in a way - to Peripheral Neuropathy Week:

CCSVI (Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency) is a HUGE issue within the MS

community, following successful treatments in Italy. They are now at the

'confirming-the-research' stage.

MS has long been considered an autoimmune disease - and who knows - but

researchers found a high incidence of MS in those with - basically - blocked

veins. Once surgery was performed to open the veins, there were dramatic

improvements.

One of the proposed studies is located in Buffalo, N.Y., and is looking for

'other neurological' as one of the types of control groups. If any of you CMTers

live in the Buffalo area, it would be interesting to have your data in this

study. This is not a treatment study, but rather a study to examine the

cerebrospinal venous capacity, via doppler/imaging/etc.

Federal Calendar of Health Observances. This includes Charcot Marie Tooth

neuromuscular syndrome. This is so that we all can alert the public to ensure

diagnosis, raise awareness and call attention to the need for more research,

treatment and final arrestment.
