Clyde,

Your'e very active. Yes, it makes sense. Hard to say with balance, but every

since I learned aquatic balance pool exercises, my balance is very good (I have

worked all those into my circuit which I maintain 3-4 times a week.

Could it be too much time on the treadmill at once? Can you break it down into

smaller bits of time spread over more days to see if your legs don't get so

jelly?

I don't have AFOs either. I'm high energy too, a bit younger than you, but

everyday I have an hour 'couch break' where I do nothing but meditate, pet my

dog or journal.

As for the balance issue, maybe PT can help. Or maybe some in-shoe orthotics, or

maybe AFOs. I took charge of the balance issue after having Aquatic PT following

surgery where I learned some martial arts and Tai Chi(also done in the pool) And

I will say again that the exercises keep me strong and feeling good.

As those of us who are 'boomers' age, we are literally making history (still!)

with how CMT affects us later in life. Keep on keeping on. Maybe write down a

'weekly plan' each Sunday night. List all that you plan on for the following

week. Look at it, study it, you may find that with a change in pacing or making

some minor adjustments, you'll maintain all your independence and freedom.
