Guest guest
Hi everyone, I went out to visit Ian yesterday. He's having something of a difficult time with the transition from one 1:1 aide (who left for another job but who will continue to come back on a part-time basis) to another (who Ian actually requested, and is a really nice guy -- and a GUY, which has always worked well for Ian as he's gotten older). He's had a few behavioral episodes -- collapsing himself on the bathroom floor, hiding under his bed, refusing to go to school. I wasn't planning to go out yesterday as we are bringing him home next weekend for a family wedding and then we'll be at Parents' Weekend the weekend after that, but he seemed to need to see me. And we had a good time. Lunch at Friendly's, which is a favorite haunt of ours and where they treat him SO well. Then shopping at WalMart, FYE, and Borders, our usuals, and then over to Fly Creek Cider Mill, another usual. It's the same routine each time, and to deviate from it is to invite the pouts from Ian. I am concerned about him as he appears to be regressing in certain areas. For instance, he's having toilet accidents -- some, I think, on purpose as part of his behavioral episodes ( " oh yeah? well, take that! " ), but yesterday's I do believe was accidental. I haven't had to clean him up from one of these in a long, long time. We had to stop in a JC Penney to buy new underwear and camp out in the ladies' room for a while to clean up (he was horrified at having to be in the ladies' room, but I couldn't very well go with him into the men's room!). Our plan is to have him graduate in June of 2010 and then move him back closer to home, to a group home and a supervised job. It's going to be a nasty transition for him. Poor guy is screwed either way -- he stays there, he misses his family; he comes back here, he misses his friends there. Guest guest
Ck, what a wonderful turn out despite Ian being under the weather, such bondness. Hope Ian is feeling well after receiving some TLC. Irma,20,DS/ASD > > Hi everyone, > > I went to see Ian yesterday.
