Guest guest
Auggie, Go to http://www.charcot-marie-tooth.org/med_alert.php at the top it is titled Medical Alert then a brief paragraph is written: The medications listed below are potentially toxic to CMT patients. Vincristine has been proven hazardous and should be avoided by all CMT patients, including those with no symptoms. The remainder of the medications listed below present varying degrees of potential risk for worsening CMT neuropathy. Before taking any medication or changing medication, all CMT patients should make sure the treating physician is fully aware of their medical condition. Right after that paragraph, you will see Click here to view expanded Medical Alert table. The " Click here " is highlighted in blue. Click on that to view the expanded medical alert list. Guest guest
Still nothing. I've gone to the link you provided below, using both Safari, and Firefox, but there is no blue link following the first paragraph you noted below ... no link period. None. Zip. My two browsers are up-to-date, so any suggestions? > > Auggie, > > Go to http://www.charcot-marie-tooth.org/med_alert.php at the top it is titled > > > Medical Alert > > > then a brief paragraph is written: > > > The medications listed below are potentially toxic to CMT patients. Guest guest
According to the site, you must be logged in to view the expanded medical information. That requires membership. The only " Click here " I see is the paragraph " Neurotoxic Medications and Worsening of Neuropathy " > > > > Auggie, > > > > Go to http://www.charcot-marie-tooth.org/med_alert.php at the top it is titled > > > > > > Medical Alert > > > > > > then a brief paragraph is written: > > > > > > The medications listed below are potentially toxic to CMT patients. Guest guest
Augold & Gretchen, FYI, when I click on Gretchen's link (in Firefox) it takes me directly to the list itself. There is no blue link following the 1st paragraph, the whole list is right there. For kicks and giggles, I went through Google to the CMTA website. On the left sidebar of the homepage, about six inches down, there is a red box with the words Medical Alert. Just beneath that the words Click Here are in bold to view the list. I clicked on it and went to the same place Gretchen's link goes. There is one med under High Risk, 20 under Moderate Risk, 23 under Uncertain/Minor Risk, and 16 under Negligible/Doubtful Risk. Augold, if there is nothing but a header when you go to that link, perhaps try Internet Explorer. Most pages these days are compatible with Firefox, but sometimes they really just want IE. > > > > Auggie, > > > > Go to http://www.charcot-marie-tooth.org/med_alert.php at the top it is titled > > > > > > Medical Alert > > > > > > then a brief paragraph is written: > > > > > > The medications listed below are potentially toxic to CMT patients. Guest guest
I think that Adiamycin should be moved from the minor or uncertain risk group to a much higher risk group. I took adriamycin/cytoxin chemotherapy for breast cancer and it severely exacerbated my CMT and neuropathy including the open wound I had on my foot. I also had neutropenia which resulted in a two-month hospital and rehab stay and I had to learn to walk again. I still have major pain in my legs and back resulting from the neutropenia. About a year ago, I learned that I have congestive heart failure due to damage done to my heart by the adiamycin. It is a powerful and very dangerous drug! ________________________________ From: gfijig <gfijig@...> Sent: Mon, June 28, 2010 2:59:55 PM Subject: Expanded Medical Alert List Auggie, Go to http://www.charcot-marie-tooth.org/med_alert.php at the top it is titled Medical Alert then a brief paragraph is written: The medications listed below are potentially toxic to CMT patients.
