Guest guest Posted January 23, 2010 Report Share Posted January 23, 2010 I have mild foot drop and back when I was diagnosed with CMT the physical therapist had me try on braces that look like these. I could not wear them though. Because of the way my ankle bones are shaped they did not fit around them properly. To wear braces I would need to have custom made ones. The therapist didn't think I was bad enough for that so they had me get orthodics for in my shoes. That doesn't help with foot drop but it does help with having my foot positioned better when walking. The other consideration for braces is that something off-the-shelf also probably won't work if they need to correct something like if your foot toes in. > > > There are different AFOs.
