Guest guest
Andressa, I'm not but I have a Nesco dehydrator. They do go on sale now and then. I would love to get a Excaliber but it's just not in my budget by any stretch. I have great success with my Nesco and yes, I do rotate the shelves but I don't have to do it very often for things to dry out evenly. The only thing is I wish it didn't fill up so quickly. I'm going to see if I can get more shelves for it at the store. Someday I hope to get an Ex but for now this is working for me. Good luck :~)
Guest guest
Also not , but... I have both the Nesco and the Excalibur. I have had the Excalibur for years, and love it, but it takes up SOOO much space and is noisy and puts out a lot of heat. I bought a Nesco to put in my RV, and ended up loving it so much I now use it in my house in place of the Excalibur...which I will likely sell soon. I got my Nesco on sale for around 90. It is the one seen in the webstore at http://www.mymealmasters.com It is quieter and doesn't produce so much heat, and the square design makes it easy to LOAD it with stuff to dry. > > Andressa, I'm not but I have a Nesco dehydrator. Guest guest
Andresa, The Nesco's are a good dryer. I posted a link to the Nesco American harvest kit that has all the extras. It has 8 of everything you need. The price was $133.00 Most of these came with only 4 trays By the time you buy the extra trays screens and fruit trays you will have spent a lot more then this. This is a real good buy. Shopping is free. I have no connection with this seller but rep is good. Excalibur. Easer to load square trays, better heat control. More room, You don't have to rotate trays. Has the beat warranty of any. Hope this helps, in VT. Subject: OT: Dehydrators To: sproutpeople Date: Saturday, April 21, 2012, 1:52 PM , would you mind sharing your opinion on the Nesco dehydrators? I know that Excalibur is generally considered " the best " , and if I really got into dehydrating, I'd probably go with it. However, I just wasn't sure I wanted to jump into that pricy an item when I'm not sure dehydrating would turn out to be a long-term " investment " . So several months ago I was checking out the Nesco website for their big roasters and saw that they had dehydrators. I don't recall the price, but I believe it was comparable or just slightly more than the usual Sunbeam dehydrators that seem to pop up if you're looking for a brand other than Excalibur. And I trust the Nesco name. While I had originally been thinking that maybe I'd try the dehydrating thing this summer with produce from the farmers' market (St Farmers' Market's summer hours start next weekend - YAY!!), for various reasons, it won't happen until next summer at earliest. But I would be interested to hear about your experiences with the Nesco dehydrators, opinion on difference between it and the Excalibur, whatever you want to share to educate me on dehydrating. TIA, Andresa > ------------------------------------ > >
