update on Aidan

Well...

Friday was definitely for me the day from hell!

I calmed down on the weekend and feel better today - except that we are

waiting for a call to see what happens next.

On Friday we had to go for a chest xray and the lab needed to do a full iron

study on the blood. The dr called and Aidan is severely iron-deficient so he

wanted us to start an iron supplement immediately. We picked up a fruit

flavoured liquid supplement at the pharmacist and, no surprise, Aidan absolutely

refuses to take it. No amount of cajolling, bribing, pleading and finally

getting even annoyed and threatening to go back to the hospital worked. It

seemed almost like he did try to take it but his sensory and tactile issues

simply made him gag and spit it back at us. Short of sitting on him, which I am

simply not prepared to do, I cannot think of anything else to do for him. All

of his results have been forwarded to the Hematologist and we are waiting for

the next plan of action. I left a message first thing this morning with the Dr

telling them that he is refusing the supplement.

Even if we can get the supplement into him, I need to know why this has

happened.

sedated. Go the extra mile, whatever, and DEMAND that he be sedated in the

morning and everything can be done after sedation. You may have to wait an extra

day or two for everyone to get their schedules aligned, but I would push for

it. Marrow extracts are from the butt area, INTO the hip bone, and they do

hurt!!! Prays coming for you and Aiden.
