Guest guest
Welcome to each of you. All I can say is trust your gut! That is what brought each of us to our Autism diagnosis and to this group. There are many articles worth reading, printing and passing along to therapist and doctors who do not see what you are seeing with your child. You know them better than anyone else! Also, check out http://www.disabilitysolutions.org/dsaiic/downsyndrome.htm which is the Down Syndrome and Autism Internet Information Center created by our own Joan Guthrie Medlen, RD, LD. There is a wealth of knowledge available to help you prove your case if necessary. Most important, you have to remind yourself that you are doing all that you are capable of doing and that you are a good parent. If you were not....you would not have found your way here! Try not to get overwhelmed by all the information we might throw at you. We all really like to help and at times it can be a lot! The extended family on this site are at times my lifeline. They understand where I am coming from and when I need it, give me that little kick in the bootie. This is a great place to brain storm ideas, throw a pity party, and celebrate what to others might seem an insignificant accomplishment. And we tell lots of poop stories! As Ty says on Extreme Home Makeover......Welcome Home! Holly Mom to Jake 9 years old DS, PDD and cute as a button We live in PA with husband/Daddy Joe and sister Mia 11 years old.
