Guest guest
My experience with taking the alpha blocker drug TAMSULOSIN has resulted in some bad side effects. The most serious is that it causes soft muscles in my body to have less strength. This is not something a person with CMT wants to have happen to them. A second bad effect was that it caused my nasal turbinates to swell resulting in a severe stuffy nose. I stopped taking this drug and after 3 days my strength has improved by at least 10 percent and my nasal passages are open again. Being able to breathe better and more muscle strength makes walking much easier. This drug was prescribed for me do to a BPH problem by my doctor with only minimum info on possible side effects. After using my internet search engine for the term TAMSULOSIN MUSCLE WEAKNESS, I found several hundred posts in web sites about bad effects from using this drug from individuals. The drug is sometimes prescribed for gall stones in women who also experienced bad side effects. In my opinion extreme caution should be taken when thinking about using this drug by individuals with CMT, MD and other diseases causing muscle weakness.
