carolyn.....you're right.....florida weather is just lovely for most of the

year.....we ( personally ) became tired of the heat in the summer but for the

majority of time that we lived in florida, we greatly enjoyed

them.....hurricanes are just part of nature.....you learn to " batten down the

hatches " when one is headed your way and god willin' and the crick don't rise it

will decide to head away from you.....it is just part of nature and one heck of

an experience to go through

are you on lake okeechobee or in the town ?.....we looked at property down there

on the lake.....it is very beautiful and i'm glad to hear that you enjoy your

home.....peace, mary

was still rebuilding going on and there were a lot of things that were

missing.  It was more of a fishing community than a tourist area.  There

weren't a lot of things to see.

lol , yes MANY moons ago! lol Have lots of family on his side still lives

there as well between Tampa, St. pete and Lake panasoffie (sp?)as well as Gulf

Breeze. I have some family down in naples and Good family friends in Ft.

Walton.  Tampa is where I 1st saw salt water, went swimming in salt water for

the 1st time at Picnic Island, dolphins scared me to death thought they was

sharks until they jumped. (Grew up watching Jaws, wanted to be an oceanographer

till I seen that movie..lol)  Enjoyed swimming off the St. petes side of the

Gandy bridge and my 1st time swimming in the gulf was at clear water beach.
