Guest guest
" s is Monsanto's exclusive agent for the international marketing and distribution of consumer Roundup®. " Does that line me that Monsanto owns them or that they are merely an agent? ew Re: Black Oil Sunflower Seed for Sprouting EW http://thescottsmiraclegrocompany.com/aboutus/our_business.html Not owned by, but 's is the exclusive agent in marketing and distributing Roundup. Guest guest
I'm thinking just agent, but, I still don't like it. Holly
Guest guest
Wow, what a response and so fast. This is quite a lively group. Answers are sprouting up everywhere. booo... I know bad pun... But I am surprised at the fast response here. Other Yahoo groups are much more stagnant than this group. I will do a check with the company that supplies the seed at my local Fred Meyer store. I'll ask them if they may be organic or if they are consumable by by sprouting for humans... They may be just repackaged and sold as bird feed. To be honest, I really don't want 10lbs of seed... That would take a long time to sprout them all... and I've not tried sprouted sunflower seeds before. I think I will go to the bulk section at WinCo and buy a little seeds there and see if they will work. WinCo has a great bulk section. I'll check them out. Just in case you're not familiar with WinCo.. They have stores in Washington, Idaho, Nevada, California and Oregon... thus WinCo. Dennis > > Hi all... I was in my local supermarket the other day and saw that they had 10lb bags of Black Oil Sunflower seeds for birds for sale for around $5. It made me wonder if we could use these for sprouting. > > Would this seed be OK to sprout? Guest guest
Dennis, if they are marketed as bird seed they are not clean as they would be if human consumption and even human consumption is allowed to have so much rat droppings in them, etc. LOL. Don't think about it, but don't eat bird seed either. Check HandyPantry.com or check with a supplier of organic seed. Organic seed for sprouting must be more clean that what is planted or what is eaten by birds. I don't know about Emergency Essentials as to whether they have sprouting seeds other than alfalfa.
