Welcome! The responses should be interesting. I've just been thru my own

struggles with broccoli and Easy Sprout (I'm also new to sprouting). BUT, see

Melody's YouTube video on keeping sprouts cool during hot weather. It's an easy

method and will rule out that possibility. Good luck - I just switched sprouting

devices.

two batches but had to throw away this batch because it rotted overnight. It was

on it's 3rd day and had already sprouted. Is it the warm weather or was it too

much water? What is the maximum temp one can grow sprouts?

I by no means am an expert. This could have been that they got to warm, I

now have a small fan blowing on my sprouts, but am having the problem with

the top sprouts drying out. They also could have been to wet. After

rinsing, I drain and then prop the container with the sprouts up on the

ledge of the holding container and let that drain for oh maybe 20 minutes

or so. Then I shake and shake to remove more water. My hands are so small

and with the peripheral neuropathy I can't do the spin like Gil once they

start growing much. I do tap the sides of the sprout container on the edge

of my sink to aid in getting water out.

Thank you Dona. What device are you using and do you have better results? I am

starting another batch and I am going to follow exactly Gene Monson's

instructions. He thinks my problem is drainage, not so much temperature. Sophia

Ha - I don't have enough experience to really know. I had about 7 failed batches

with the Easy Sprout and was spending way too much time at it, so decided to

ditch and try the Sprout Garden. I have 2 (only, ever) successful broccoli

batches with them. It seems like most people who use the Easy Sprouts think they

are wonderful; we just didn't hit it off - I'll use it for some other kind of

sprouts.

Re Gene Monson - be advised that Gil at sproutpeople.org and probably most

people here don't go by the Sproutamo instructions. Gene certainly could be

right in your case, but if you haven't checked out the SproutPeople video, you

should. Different.

Hi Dona - I have had 3 out of 3 great successes with Easy Sprout growing

alfalfa. I've had 1 out of 3 success for broccoli. I started the broccoli last

night, and this morning I used an orange mesh bag to spin the seeds, it did come

out a lot drier than what I can do at the sink. We'll see how it comes out,

I'll let you know in a few days :) --Sophia

I'm glad you are having good luck. Like I said...everybody but me seems to like

the Easy Sprout. After watching Melody's new micro-green setup, I think I'm

going to steal the idea and give it a try on my next batch of broccoli. I'm

still experimenting to see what works best for me. But at least right now I

actually have some finished sprouts that I can eat from the Sprout Garden. I'm

sure I'm in the right place to get it right.

> Hi Dona- this batch of broccoli sprouts using Easy Sprout was successful!! I

think the spinning with a mesh bag helped the most, and also not rinsing for 24

hours after soak may have helped also. This batch did not have the odor I was

experiencing in the past, probably because it was not sitting in water. --

Hi sk,

Welcome to the group. I use the EasySprouter here in SoCal all year round, no

matter the weather. I hope that you're not going by the instructions that come

with the cup. You have to rinse twice a day. Rinsing is really rehydrating - or

giving a drink to you sprouts. They will dry up and die with out it. However,

they can and will rot over night if you do not drain them really well. Go to

sproutpeople.org and watch the videos on how to best use the EasySprout

sprouter.

Too warm to grow broccoli sprouts?

Hi, I am new at this. It's warm and humid in the Midwest. I use an Easy

Sprouter and this is my third batch of broccoli seeds. I did fine with the first

two batches but had to throw away this batch because it rotted overnight. It was

on it's 3rd day and had already sprouted. Is it the warm weather or was it too

much water? What is the maximum temp one can grow sprouts?

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!
