Guest guest
Margaret will definitely keep Gareth in our thoughts and prayers. May there be some answers where Gareth could have some relief and get back to school as you have share how well he is doing which are huge strides following Gareth's updates. I am glad CNN is bringing forth the awareness of the Scleroderma. Just hope I catch one of the segments I keep missing it but at least prefect timing with a large audience who are glued to watching CNN with the " P " going on. I went ahead and google CNN to see if anything was mentioned and did manage to review this piece. http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/conditions/10/23/heroes.delany.evnin/index.html Scleroderma Research Foundation, http://www.srfcure.org/srf/home.htm I even was able to view what some of the other members have mentioned in regards to Diverticulitis diet http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/health/2008/10/09/fortin.health.minute.divertic\ ulitis.cnn Hugs!!! Irma,20,DS/ASD >> It's not often I write about being bummed taking care of Gareth. I had him in to the wound clinic today after a horrible night of pain.....Tues we had found out he had cellulitis and the Nurse Practitioner put him on antibiotics. > The doc had to lance the cellulitis right there and we didn't have to go to > the hospital for IV antibiotics. Gareth was on Levaquin for 10 days for his RLL pneumonia. He finished up last Mon but by Thurs was hurting in both lungs. On Fri, the X-rays showed pneumo in both LL of his lungs. The doc gave him an antibiotic shot in the office and sent him home with the Z-pak. Well, by 9:30 today we were back in the ER. His pneumo is worse and he's got plueritis (sp) on the left side. Now he's been admitted to the hospital for a couple of days. Thanks you guys....I know all of your prayers have helped in the past. Take care, Everyone. Guest guest
Margaret Still praying for Gareth. Do not feel selfish for leaving. You won't be any good to Gareth if you are suffering from exhaustion yourself. McD house is such a great place!! I hope Gareth continues to make improvements no matter how small they may be. God bless! Ali mfroof wrote: Hi, Everyone....just got into the Mc D house. I think I have had 2 hrs sleep over the past 2 days. They took over 650 CC of yellow fluid from G's left lung this afternoon. They could have gone up to a 1000 cc's easily but he had had enough and was starting to jerk around too much. Tomorrow we will see if he is still producing the fluid or if it has stopped. He's still on the heparin for blood clots to the lungs. I left him tonight....the first time he has ever slept alone in the hospital.....he told me 'I fine, Mom.' I am just soooooooooooo exhausted....I just want to sleep without hearing beeping all night long....I feel so selfish. If you could only imagine the dread last night....not knowing if he would still be alive by the time we drove the 2 hrs to Hershey. I thank God for the modern meds, technologies, and all of your prayers. They do work!!! He has lots more testing tomorrow....fun way to start 2009!!! I will keep you all posted. I love all of you guys....epseciailly MB. Thanks for being a shoulder to cry on this morning. Take care, Everyone. Margaret > > Margaret just left me a message- with very good news! Guest guest
Should have read all the posting before replying.... glad to hear the great news Margaret!! Happy New Year to everyone!! Ali mfroof@... wrote: Hi, Everyone.......He's home!!! I am not sure he's suppose to be but he wanted to go and they said there was nothing they could do for him ' at this point.' He still has 4-500 cc's of fluid around the left lung but they *think* it will dissolve. The exit report said they took off over 800 cc's the other day. He has not had a fever the whole time and started to act 'normal' after they took off the first 800 cc's. His heart echo, done yesterday, was normal....yeah, no pulmonary hypertension!!! They still have no real reason for the fluid and he's been handed over to his rheumatologist because everything points to scleroderma related. The lead doc that said it was okay for him to go home is mystified by Gareth. He should be acting very sickly yet shows no signs of shortness of breath or pain from the remaining fluid. The resident wanted him out before he caught something 'bad' from being IN the hospital. Happy New Year to all of you......and thank you so much for your prayers!!!
