Thanks, Charlyne. is doing better, still nauseated and on IVs. Turns out

he's obstructed from a fecal impaction, so enemas await, and he needs to

gradually get so he can drink/eat without IV support to hydrate him. After

leukemia, this seems like a very minor thing, and we are grateful that it's

something we can fix fairly easily. He has had impactions before; this was just

a more emergent reaction to it. Of course, isn't feeling great and will

not love the enema, and obstructions are not something to mess with, so prayers

for him are appreciated, but I feel good about his chances to be home for

Halloween and for us to move past this with relative ease. Thanks for your kind

thoughts and prayers.

was released to home yesterday evening after his fecal impaction cleared.

But he's still vomiting at home today and can only handle small sips of fluid.

We pray he recovers enough to drink and eat and get better; otherwise he'll need

to go back into the hospital for more IV hydration. Thanks!

The vomiting after an impaction clears is usually a reverse vagal response.

The peristalsis gets confused!

Frequent liquids - soft bland diet will hep.

Beth, Hi I am happy for you that got to come home for Halloween.

used to get this way before he starting eating gf/cf and doing

supplements. Lots of antibiotics did this to . I am sure you know

this to but a child can have diarrhea and still be constipated. With

recently being dx myself with Diverticulitis I have educated myself

on the bowels. Hope he is feeling better. It is miserable when you

have tummy problems. used to come home everyday from school and

scream for 2-3 hours inconsolably. Cyndi B

Oh Beth, I am sorry that he was so sick. What makes you think the

rash is weird? Did the rash just come up or has it been there the

whole time?Where is the rash? Is the phenergan helping with nausea?

It is common when you get impacted to get so sick at your stomach

that you vomit and most people do not realize that you can be

constipated and have diarrhea. The diarrhea goes around the

impaction. Been there done that. Cyndi B

>

> Thanks. Unfortunately, did not get to enjoy Halloween. He

vomited off and on Friday and was sick and miserable; in bed with

phenergan for nausea by 7:15. Saturday the vomiting was gone but

diarrhea was wicked. Today both were better and he's eating, hooray,

since he has lost SO much weight, but he's still nauseated off and on

and has a weird rash and lethargy. Probably back to the dr. tomorrow.

Beth, sharing updates are fine but do not worry about having to read

the listserve as you have your plate full with your son. We do

understand even though this listserve could become addicting as there

is a variety of messages to choose from that one can relate.;)

Prayers and thoughts your way, hope all continues to go well, wishing

your son a good visit with the GI doc on Friday.

Irma,20,DS/ASD

> Thanks, a. The rash went away, so it must have been viral or a

med reaction. He is back at school, and doing much better, but he's

very fatigued still. He also may be working on another impaction; we

follow up at the GI office Friday.

I have been so out of touch since taking on the full time job, guys, but I do

lurk and think of you all. is in the hospital; he had a stomach virus and

got severely dehydrated really fast - we came awfully close to losing him. But

he is getting better and should be out of ICU later today and to a regular

floor.

Nearly losing your kiddo surely does remind you how much you really, really want
