Guest guest
Hi Stella, That sounds like GREAT news. I think you should talk to the doctor about the painful headaches you are getting , see if he wants any other tests done, and see if there is some kind of medication you can take. Are they migraine headaches etc. good luck and keep us posted. perhaps the cyst is causing sinus like headaches? Vi In a message dated 11/10/2008 5:54:18 P.M. Guest guest
So glad it is nothing lethal. Now let't get you some help. What did the doc suggest??? Try a headache clinic - is there one near you? These are usually run by neurologists. My daughter tried biofeedback which helped some . She has had migraine headaches since age 4. Lamictal is the only med which ever helped even a little but she can't take it when pregnant, so bio feedback has been an option. Also IMATREX helped if she got it fast enough at the beginning. Also, has anyone talked to you about rebound headaches? These occur from taking meds for headaches which then feed off the meds so if you don;t take the med you get a headache. > I got the results from the MRI. It was negative with contrast. Guest guest
You must be relieved to get that good news. Could the cyst on your sinus being causing the headaches? I know I get really bad sinus headaches that will last for days on end. Also, my aunt used to get a lot of headaches and then someone recommended that she stop using sweeteners in her coffee/tea/baking etc. or anything with aspertame (not sure of spelling sorry) in it (diet pop). She did this and her headaches stopped. Not sure how much I believe in that but it worked for her .... Ali --------------------------------- Yahoo! Guest guest
I know at times we want an answer in situations like this so they can be solved. Bless your heart. And then you still seem lost and frustrated. My sister has been having horrible migrains too. Of course a lot stress in her life has may be in yours, probably doesn't help. But she quit eating chocoate and hers haven't came about as often. I agree with the prior post. Try cotting things like she said our of you diet, or at least cut down on them. I couldn't imagine not having chocolate and neither could my sister, so she thought, she said it is worth missing it so she doesn't have those horrible migrains. I feel for you, I'll continue to pray!!! Are you seeing a neurolagist by the way, don't recall you saying, but they can really help!!! good luck, AMY -- In , " stellarah " wrote: > > I got the results from the MRI. Guest guest
Def see if its related to something in your diet, allergies. Hubby had very bad problems, had sinus surgery and now is SO much better! Glad to hear the MRI was good. > > I got the results from the MRI. It was negative with contrast. Guest guest
Is there a " site " to review everything?? In CA I get paid to stay home with Angie and she gets protective supervision, she also gets Medi-Cal in addition to health insurance through hubby's company...so co-pays are basically nothing. Would it be dumb to give all this up???? > > > > > > I got the results from the MRI. It was negative with contrast. No > > > definite focal abnormality identified within the brain. Guest guest
Stella, I have suffered with migraines for years about 1-2 a year depending on stress levels. There are lots of other triggers like ham, bacon, cheese, etc this have nitrates.Chocolate, colas, wines, etc. They can give you a list of foods that trigger headaches. Allergies, infections, dental problems, etc. Maybe you are suddenly allergic to something different you are using like a new detergent, cologne, food, drink, etc. Are you getting less sleep. I just found out that I am dehydrated which can and has caused headaches, heart racing, fainting, etc. The internist is putting me on topamax to see if this will help.If you are still worried make an appointment with a neurologist and let them check you out.Just a thought but it never hurts to get a second opinion. What about your blood pressure? My blood pressure was 153/88 and it was causing my headache, dizziness, and so on. Cyndi B > > I got the results from the MRI. It was negative with contrast. Guest guest
Hi Stella, So Good to hear that your MRI was clear. It must have been such a relief. I also suffered with migraines throughout my childhood and as a young adult. I had very long hair at the time. One doc suggested that I cut my hair. I did and can't remember the last time I had a migraine. Charlyne Subject: MRI update on me To: Date: Monday, November 10, 2008, 5:53 PM I got the results from the MRI. It was negative with contrast. Guest guest
I have migraines. I had MRIs too with nothing remarkable noted. Could you be having migraines? What does your neurologist say? Maybe you need a new neurologist? There are good Rx drugs for migraines you could try. My ob/gyn is also a big help with this, as migraines tend to hit women in midlife before menopause. Oh, joy. Just a thought if they have ruled out other causes. Guest guest
I have migraines also and I was getting them more frequent this past year. My MRI showed nothing. I have to monitor my caffeine, drink plenty of water, and I am on Topomax. It has worked like a miracle because I am not getting those cluster headaches every day. Now, I just get a headache when I have too much caffeine or am extrememly tired and did not eat well. I go to a neurologist but I see the headache specialist. Guest guest
I was taking Excedrin Migraine and then I asked a neuro about my headaches and she told me to stop taking them because of rebound headaches. That was the only meds that help me. So my primary doctor gave me some headaches for tension. I can take up to four a day, the generic name is cephadyn. I took two yesterday and of course it didn't help me, but today I feel better. I looked online to research the retention cyst and it looks like I need to see a ENT. I know all the specialist for a, but don't know any for adults. How pitiful is that, I always put my baby's first. Thats what mothers are for though. Guest guest
It might be worth a try. I do drink a lot of diet Pepsi. Someone at work suggested that I cut out sugar completely. I just don't know if I would be tolerable if I do that, if I could even do it. It very well could be something in my diet. Guest guest
I haven't seen a neurologist, just a primary doctor. I've had to basically tell him what to do for me. I'm thinking I will call him today and see if they well either give me some type of referral to see a ENT or a neurologist. I have Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama through my job, so I don't really know how they do the referral thing. I wonder if I need to see both. Guest guest
Man, I drink diet drinks everyday. I will have to try to cut down on them. I can tell that nobody will want to be around me. Stella Harrelson
Guest guest
Your so silly, I am sure people will still want to be around you!!! LOL.. HEy I was just going to ask you too, Topamax is for migrains, my mom takes them and so does my sister. It seems to help them. My Dr. actually gave it to me for weight loss. It helps with that too, but I couldn't take it, it made me legs tingly and my fingers. Bummer... But be carefull cutting down on things, a had a friend who drank soda's everyday, she decided to quit cold turkey and she got really sick, they said it was caffein withdrawl. - AMY > > Man, I drink diet drinks everyday. Guest guest
Stella, I am with Sara on the Diet Pepsi maybe being the culprit. Here is why. I was having fibroid my-alga symptoms and headaches. I was drinking about 2-2liters a day of Pepsi.I was also having memory problems, and attacks that were like heart attacks and I was hospitalized several times. I read an article in a Woman's World Mag that a women was having the same symptoms. She quit drinking diet Pepsi and with a few days she felt better. Diet Pepsi has the same componet as embalming fluid. I stopped having fibroid my-alga,memory started coming back and I felt better. That was over 4 years ago. The DAN doc that I take to said it is better to drink the sugar that the sugar subs. Even though splenda is made from sugar it is the way it is processed.Good luck Cyndi B > > It might be worth a try. I do drink a lot of diet Pepsi. Guest guest
Holly, You take topamax. The Doc wants me to try that. How long have you taken topamax? I was scared to try after I read the symptoms were almost the same as what I have been doing. Dizziness, difficulty concerntrating, weakness, nausea, vision problems, upset stomach, diarrhea.Have you had any of these symptoms? Guest guest
Man. I guess I am addicted to them. As far as Topamax, I was taking it, but I am on Pristiq (a pill for severe depression) and the two does not g-haul. I felt like I was losing my mind. I was being very absent minded (more than usual) confused, and dazed. My mom actually asked me what medicines I was taking and she took it upon herself to look up the side effects. The Pristiq said do not take with any mood disorder meds, migraine, or headache meds because it can be life threating. I took the emails to my doctor and he said he wanted me to stay on the Pristiq because I wasn't crying all the time and ect. So he took me off the Topamax and gave me something for tension headaches that can be taken up to four times a day. I feel like a freaking dope head. He gave me some nerve medicine to take when I feel like I'm fixing to have a nervous breakdown. I swear I have never had any medical problems. Now I feel like I'm slowly falling apart. It could be that I will be 30 this month. It might just be in my head.. Who knows. I'm a mystery. Stella Harrelson
Guest guest
Holly, Oh Dear, I have problems with putting together words now. I think it's called getting older and the brain is not working. Really I started that when I was drinking diet pepsi. I was addicted. So you still take topamax? Cyndi B > > Cyndi, > I have been taking it for about 4 months and so far I am loving it. I did not have any of the symptoms except the loss of words at times. They say it can make you not be able to put words together and that did happen to me, but it slowly went away. It was like I just could not come up with the words I needed to say. Not that I am EVER at a loss for words! ha! > > The good side effect is that it does help you lose a few pounds. I am down to my lightest in 9 years, with the excetion of right after Jake was born. Guest guest
Holly, Splenda is made from sugar but 's holistic Dr. said it is the way splenda is processed that she does not like. She says to use real sugar and not a substitute. Cyndi B > > Splenda is suppose to be different because it is actually a product of sugar. Guest guest
I have cut back a lot. I'm drinking my first can of diet Pepsi and it's the second day. Go me!!! I had a h/a today, but I figured it could be from detox withdrawals, so I gave in and drank one. I'm willing to anything to stop having h/a. I did schedule me an appointment with an ENT. It's not until next month. So maybe she can determine what else I can do to stop having these darn h/a. Stella Harrelson
Guest guest
> > IF you suddenly withdraw from caffeine you will have fierce h/a. Cut in half first and then wean off it. IT is a pretty bad chemical to go cold turkey. Must totally agree, never go cold turkey boy one could really go through some withdrawal side effects. What an addiction one could undergo. Good luck to all on this mission. Irma
