Guest guest
We got my daughter some trekking poles last summer for camping & outdoor adventures. It has really helped her ability to balance on some of the more uneven terrain, even just walking on gravel paths in the park. She was 8 when we got them, so it took a bit longer for her to find the right rhythm/coordination for using them, but this summer they were really useful! Guest guest
Hi Nascargirl, Thanks for the link. My husband is finding it hard to find shoes in the UK. He also has diabetis. I'm thinking I might like to get a pair. Also, while looking at the poles, one site that sells them also had big variety of shoes that orthotics/AFOs would fit into. They are expensive, but they have some cute pretty cute styles, which can be very hard to find! Guest guest
Hi Angie, I use a single trekking pole, much like others use a cane, but I do not put much weight on it. Also, I swing it out in front of me when I walk. Basically, it is there to help me balance if I trip (over my own feet, usually) and it does help keep my lower back from hurting so much when I walk. In addition, my poles do not have the angled tips, just normal cane tips and the sharp tips underneath, for ice & such. I may look into getting the angled tips and using both poles! > > Has anyone ever tried using Balance/Walking/Trekking Poles? > http://www.balancewalking.com/ <http://www.balancewalking.com/> .
