Guest guest
Becky, yeast may be causing his stomach pain. I know that whenever has been on antibiotics he is totally different. All the progress we make sets him back after being on antibiotics. I think your gut is telling you to be cautious. Also antibiotics are constipating and even if the child is going to the bathroom the doctors say they we should go after every meal just like when you are a baby. That is what the gastroenerologist told me. Probiotics the refrigerated kind from Whole foods can help if that is what is going on. Becky stay with your gut and keep pushing for answers until they help your little guy. You know your child best. School needs to deal with it if he is not running a fever or throwing up.When they can't give an actual IV they can give the IV antibiotic in pill form and it helps just as well. Been there done that. Get a good supplement like Juice plus. You can buy them for you and he gets them for free because of a childrens study they are doing. I started on Juice plus, antibiotics, digestive enzyemes etc in April and he is doing 100% better. He had cellulitis of the face and head a couple of years ago and had not been the same kid. He would come home from school and start screaming for 2-3 hours. He never does that now. He smiles and is happy. Mainstream meds are okay when needed but you have to counteract them with probiotics. Keep on the road you are. Guest guest
becky just a wbc count cant decide if its apendicitis, they dont even have to have a fever, only a catscan can tell for sure. Aslo, its been like hat where I live too, we are soooooo busy at the hospital. They either have pneumonia or gatroenteritis (severe diarrhea ) and then dehydration. My hubby has pretty much gone through similair as dylan, is still recouping, the doc wanted himto stay home until monday next week but he is refusing. Says he is going to work on friday, tomarrow, we'll see i guess. I have pretty much confined him to the bedroom or bathroom, witch ok with him as he has mainly just been sleeping anyways. and I have been lysoling the house like crazy every day. And just like work im constantly telling him and my boys, wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands. I will keep dylan in my thoughts and prayers he gets all better soon. Wishing all a very Merry Chirstmas! http://sewshawna.blogspot.com ________________________________ To: Sent: Wednesday, December 3, 2008 12:38:47 PM Subject: Not getting well.... I need some advice, I think. Dylan, (who is 13, has down syndrome, autism, type 1 diabetes & alopecia) got sick about 6 weeks ago, cold turned into sinus infection with fever. Amoxicilin was prescribed, after 5 days still had the fever, not any better, got changed to augmentin. 3 days later was worse, took him to the local urgent care, who sent us to Children's hospital for the night. Couldn't get an IV in at the hospital, just kind of monitored him & sent us home the next day. Cough has developed, chest x-rays are clear. Nose draining is finally clearing up. He keeps complaining of pain in his stomach - not one specific side & they did blood tests & said it's not apendicitis. He has missed a few weeks of school already. Today school called & said he had to come home. No fever, just " not himself " and wanted to lay down. I called them back and said that I thought he might just want to go to grandmas, because he's learned that's where he gets to go if he gets sick sometimes while I am at work. The nurse said no, that they tried to send him back to class & the teacher said he was pale, not involved in class & lethargic. I just can't seem to get him well, and part of me is thinking that he's just needing to get back in a routine. Then part of me is freaking out thinking something greater is going on. He has a endocrine appt today & I am gonig to have them do another thyroid blood test & ask about chrones & whatever else they can test for. Last blood test that his ped. did a few weeks ago they said his white cells were a bit off, & some in his urine, but not enough to be cause of anything. Dylan is a horrible patient, and I hate to put him through more tests than necessary and I'm starting to feel like his doc thinks I am a psycho mom. So, if anybody has any advice or suggestions I'd love to hear them. Thanks Becky mom to Dylan (above) & Tyler
Guest guest
Becky, lots of what you had mentioned you probably do not want my suggestions as I am into the alternative biomedical approach but could relate to what you shared here on this post, even with the feeling of " crazy mom " but yet the medical professionals know there is something wrong, just can't pinpoint it when all lab or testing results return normal. Well, here is to your mission and that Dylan is feeling better. Guest guest
Thanks Irma, I have been looking into some different ways of handling things as I am not real happy with what is going on now, I'm starting to think too many meds & we need to " clean " the system out. I give you credit for being so great about what you do We just moved to a new house & am feeling like I am running on empty, but my goal is to get unpacked & then start looking into alternative ways of getting Dylan taken care of. Does seem like lots on your plate indeed, why of course our lives are never boring, this is just going with the flow. Tis the season though when all interfere weather wise too that will trigger other health issues. It is such being a detective but nice to know that we are not alone and will know that there are always lots to choose from when all fails compared to not having any information as once upon in my chapter. All good though in this present life, so take it one day at a time and at least you have always been on a mission. It is ruling out all testing needed though in the conventional method. I would recommend " IF or WHEN " you ever make some time to read a book call Children with Starving Brains, A Medical Treatment Guide for Autism Spectrum Disorder by Jaquelyn McCandless, MD Enjoy your new home.
