Guest guest
I had to respond when you said that people mistake the social anxiety part as STUBBORN. That word is a pet peeve with me. When I heard Tom Pomerantz EdD DVD on Positive Behavioral Supports, #4 of a training series, he has a slide in the program that speaks about Lack of Understanding - to call someone lazy, uncooperative or stubborn is to admit we don't understand them. He asks the question why they aren't doing what the person wants them to do. His website is http://www.universallifestiles.com/index.html . Maybe new teacher would want to check out some of Tom's info as he is an educator with an EdD, being in the same field may help. Her wanting to talk and feeling likes her is a good sign. Frustrating, but true, ' teacher had a baby and will not be back until March 2009. So the IU in Chester county called in a new teacher with no prep and she has all these kids and I am the only parent who is talking to her about their kid. And talk I will, and email I will, every day until she gets and his Down Syndrome/PDD/ Social Anxiety Disorder, with an emphasis on the Social Anxiety Part. I find the social anxiety part to be the MOST frustrating due to the fact that people mistake it for STUBBORN, Ahhhhh......I need to scream. I think I will send her things from Capone and suggest she signs up for the support group if she chooses... Thinking out loud.....give me some suggestions...thanks and more thanks to all.......I guess it is always something. Good sign, she wants to talk.. and feels likes her.
