Guest guest
Birgitta has not been feeling well all week.? She wants to be held and then she lifts her head off my shoulder and bangs it down.? She usually does this when tired or angry.? It has definitely increased while she is not feeling well.? I thought it might also be her ears bothering her but checked with doctor today and ears are ok. My dad will play " horses are coming " .?? He drums his fingers on the children's head (sounds like horses running).? Doing this, decreases her banging on my shoulder.? It must be sensory. ?Blessings, homeschooling Mom to AJ (14), (10), ^l^, (age 7, Trisomy 18 mosaic AKA 's syndrome) and Birgitta (age 5, adoption finalized 2/1/05 !!, Trisomy 21 AKA Down's Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Autism, SID) behaviors and being sick Does anyone notice an increase in behaviors, like head banging, when their child is sick, or with a cold? Angie has a cold, she's almost 6, and has been really banging her head a LOT!
Guest guest
: Oh, yes!!! You will see behaviors escalate when they don't feel good. Liz
Guest guest
Hi (and everyone) Amy definitely increases her head banging, hair pulling and popping her knee in and out when she is coming down with a cold or is sick or is in pain. We have just gotten over two weeks of excessive head banging. It stresses me out so much. Guest guest
, Oh yes the behaviors got so bad once when was sick he broke his own nose. The doctors were not listening. I had had him to the Dr.'s 3 times that week and I told them he was ill because he was being to agressive with himself. They said hormones were causing the agression. I said no something is wrong. On Sat. of that week his his nose so hard on the floor he broke it. When I took him to the emergency room that was worthless also they did nothing. No xray no meds nothing. On Sunday he starting hitting his faces again and I called the on call Dr. The Dr. asked me " What do you want me to Do " ? I was pissed and I said somebody needs to listen to me. He said there was nothing he could do. On Monday I took in to the Pediatrician that was ahead of this group and explained what was going on. He sent for a sinus xray and low and behold he had a terrible sinus infection with no runny nose. The Dr. said he was probably having a migraine and was trying to releave the pressure by hitting his face. This Dr. said if I am not ever listening to you I want you to slap me. Truefully I wanted to broadcast it on the news that doctors to not listen if a child is self injurious and do not take it serious enough when these kids gets sick. cyndi B > > Does anyone notice an increase in behaviors, like head banging, when their > child is sick, or with a cold? Guest guest
illness is usually the first thing i look for when nathan's behaviors are rearing their ugly head. sounds like your little one maybe has a sinus cold or something, maybe a sinus headache. Watch her ears, often cold medicine can promote an ear infection. many virtual hugs!!! and prayers for a speedy recovery. shawna Wishing all a very Merry Chirstmas! http://sewshawna.blogspot.com ________________________________ To: DS-Autism < > Sent: Monday, December 8, 2008 4:01:19 PM Subject: behaviors and being sick Does anyone notice an increase in behaviors, like head banging, when their child is sick, or with a cold?
