Guest guest
Dr. Kaplan is a behavior optometrist in New York. He was great with and very patient. He does visual therapy to retrain the eyes to work with the brain. He said even people that have so called 20/20 vision can benefit from prism lens. Dr. Kaplan does not believe in surgery to correct strabismis or lazy eye. He said surgery does not retrain the eyes to work with the brain and he also does not like patching the eye. He said when you patch an eye one eye is always stronger. We ordered a pair of glasses with prism lenses for everyday wear and also we got a pair of glasses for therapy. Dr. Kaplan did a couple of different experiments to show how sees things and how he can help. He said he has had kids that were violent,non-verbal,etc.The kids that were agressive either quit or became less aggressive. He has had non-verbal kids start talking. One lady that was 31 yrs old could not walk and wore leg braces and was in a wheelchair. She now walks. He does just like he talks in his book Seeing Through New Eyes and he is very helpful. After all the horrible eye exam that have led to nothing finally someone listen.I tried to post this 2 x last week but it would never post.I am glad we took to Dr. Kaplan because he cares about our kids. Guest guest
He's only a couple hours from us and I'd really like to see him. If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost (evaluation and glasses). You can email me offlist if you want. Thanks. Guest guest
Ecki, The total evalution is $1,100. As far as the glasses go 's were $320.00. The frames were $125.00. Now you can buy frames from anywhere and take them to them.Even from Sams club. Dr. Kaplan gave me a break on the evalution after I explained the Dr. Phil scenerio and the fact that Dr. Mumper was sending us to him. They do not file insurance but they will give you the codes so you can file and get reimbursed by insurance companies. I wish we were only couple hours away it was a 16 hour drive for us. Do you still have my number? If not email me off line and I will send you my number and Dr. Kaplans. Cyndi B > > He's only a couple hours from us and I'd really like to see him.
