Darlene,

There is another prototype called: SEGWAY. I prefer the Segway as our balancing

issues are better to control standing up than seating.

There are also various after market Seat kits that can be added to Segway. I

don't know how much balance is needed for them with or without the seat.

but for this one we have to have the driving licence? I don't have one.

I stop because I think I am going mad here at the youtube.com

If you do decide to try the segway let us know if the sales rep was

correct.

Hello All,

I have demo ridden the Segway and find that it takes a fine

touch of motor control over major muscle groups in your body. Its basic

sensing is a center of gravity displacement stabilized by rate gyros. The

more you lean the faster it goes. It definitely is not a steering thing.

I had all I could do to manage it in the short turn. You might get used

to it in the long run, but I would think that people with peripheral

nerve issues are not suited to its form of control.

Those living in or near San , California (or just visiting) can check out

the Segway by renting it at the Tech Museum of Innovation (201 South Market

Street San , CA 95113):

By the way, Dean Kamen, the inventor of the Segway, in currently heavily

involved in prosthetic research. Here's his Oct 2009 TEDMED presentation on
