Hi Everyone,

I have to share with folks who understand so well the accomplishments of our

children.... my son, , took his first independent steps today at 10:30am!!

is 5 years and 3 months old. 's personal aide couldn't wait to call

us, as this moment took place at school.

We were told at one point that he had a tethered spinal cord, needed

anti-anxiety meds and that he was " stubborn " . While these professionals honestly

meant well, the reality was that was going to achieve this milestone in

his own time. My husband and I believe that all of the therapies (OT,PT and SP,

as well as ABA) played a role, however, we personally believe that hippotherapy

was a good choice for , as we have seen improvements in his trunk control,

gait, sound production and overall confidence over the past several months since

he started.

Of course, this is not everyone's experience, but I feel compelled to share this

with the group in the event that there may be a family out there who's child may

also benefit from equine movement.

Anyway, thanks for listening and our hope is for all on the list serv to

experience the miracle that we did this morning. While achievements do not

necessarily occur on the timeline or in the way that we expect for our children,

there is always hope for the unexpected simply because we know it is possible.

Our heroic children have shown us this time and time again.

Merry Christmas and abundant blessings to all in 2009. May the miracle you've

been hoping for be realized!!!

Best,

Mom to , DS/PDD-NOS
