Guest guest
I like one, two and three. BUT I am concerned that if we pass bills which are disability specific, other children ho could benefit from the same treatments and protections will be excluded. IE: Children with FAS and Fragile X also can benefit from the same educational milieu as those with ASD. Guest guest
Sara, Excellent point. As much as I have been trying to move forward on this at times I overlook things that make so much sense as you stated it would be detrimental to other children if it was disability specific. I will make changes to the Draft and will have to do alot more research. I am upset beyond words right now and will post about why as I don't want it under this subject heading. It has to do with my non verbal son w/Autism. E. , Sr. > > > Either way The Autism Reform Act of 2009 will be presented to him, but > > if it's made policy before it hits the desk.. it would help. Guest guest
A very important and strong point, Sara. In my view, legislation needs to be written based on a bigger view than one disability. Even individuals within a disability label vary widely in the types of support that work best. Of course (!) abuse, neglect, and compliance-based education are bad for all.
