Guest guest
> > Hi, Everyone.....Irma....glad you and Steve enjoyed the movie. Movies and bowling alleys are still a 'no go' for Gareth. He never could handle the loudness in either one. He did go to a movie with a spec needs group in Lancaster once, but they had the theater turn the volume WAY DOWN since it was special for them. Margaret, I don't why, but thought Gareth accomplished this challenge. Once sensory integration and auditory Integration was implemented, this helped , not that this is the answer for anyone else. This just helped him, though. While attending school & the Vocation Transition Program, this was a huge part of their community outing getting the students out to the movies and bowling every week, the teacher and staff always enjoyed them as I was concern as back when he was younger, it was a no go for us. During Middle school, still had problems but this is when the teacher and staff found ways to work around it and they did manage. has always been my athletic son compared to his 2 older brothers, bowling was right on top of the list he likes. During his set backs, it was a no go but he is coming around once again, especially when he was pretty close where the DJ was playing his music at one of the Christmas party. His date/friend at another Holiday gathering was totally the opposite, her mom had to leave early to take her home. That was nice on turning down the volume when Gareth had the opportunity of going to the movies. I know it is pretty painful as I suffer from SPD, do have one ear tube unless it has fallen off. I am aware of the Autism Society providing Sensory Movie outings throughout the states. Where certain dates are blocked just for those who suffer from too much loudness are able to get some social outings and the siblings so far are able to spend some family time which I have heard some feedbacks. Hope Gareth is doing well. Irma,20,DS/ASD
