Guest guest
I remember writing about Dtap in that ELIE has NEVER received the P and we just had a " discussion " wiwth his doc over the fact that he can get a reknewed vaccination for DT but NOT P. I was told when he was a baby that P can cause additional insult to a brain already damaged. I preferred not to take that risk. HE is now 23 and has NEVEr received P. I guess he is protected from pertussis by others around him who are immunized. On Sun, Dec 21, 2008 at 1:07 AM, leilani.aguirre wrote: > I remember a post about the DTap immunizations awhile back. Guest guest
I've spoken extensively about this topic........my son, age 11, has always received ALL his immunizations on schedule. However, this past September, I spent countless hours in the ER and doctor's office and was awake for days. My son had Pertussis. The " P " in DTaP. It started as a simple cold, grew into something ALOT worse overnight...........he coughed profusely, turned blue and was vomiting uncontrollably. I took him to the ER and based on a chest xray, they diagnosed him with pneumonia. If it wasn't for the quick thinking of the on duty respiratory therapist, I would never have known what my child had was far worse, in fact, potentially fatal. However, the likelihood of death decreases substantially as the child ages. Thankfully, the course of treatment was the same......Z-pack. The ramifications of this diagnosis included the medical professionals notifying the Dept of Health, who quickly does an investigation into how your child contracted Pertussis, the amount of people who could possibly have contracted Pertussis FROM your child, notifying them to seek treatment, notifying your child's school (any child NOT up to date with all their immunizations, regardless of reason, was immediately removed from school for a period of 21 days), and active treatment of everyone in your home, including updating everyone on all their immunizations. I can not describe to you what it is like to watch your child turn blue and struggle to breathe.........I can only provide information on Pertussis, make sure everyone is aware of how dangerous this illness is and hope that you'll heed my advice. Choosing to avoid immunizations for your child has its price, not just to YOUR child, but others in your community..................... http://www.doitforyourbaby.com/?utm_source=google & utm_medium=ppc & utm_campaign=Pe\ rtussis http://www.pertussis.com/ Jacqui Hawkins jacquih1126@... http://thelifeandtimesofastressedoutmom.blogspot.com/ Celebrating Abilities www.celebratingabilitiesinc.org http://celebratingabilities.blogspot.com/ Visit our community site: http://www.lotsahelpinghands.com/c/605795/ " Schools belong to children...
