Guest guest
Totally agree Sara, my emotions on the " What if's " when feeling this way was such a learning curve and have moved on to seek on the trials and errors of therapies and treatments I have pursued on this journey even at an older age. Most of the specialized services of a variety of choices to choose from these days was not around as much in our community during these rookie days for me. I had to travel and learn what I could and very grateful I had the opportunity to, wearing many hats thanks to many who did not mind allowing me to empower myself with the trainings those who specialized in certain interventions in the areas needed and still stay in touch when needed. This was such a blessing for me to get trained in the areas I have tackled or encountered, especially now that he is older and of course when confronting some major set backs with the underlying medical issues he underwent. Speak about finally bragging away of how much accomplishments and the work applied then due his circumstances, all gone. Major regression when I finally found some solutions at an older age. Still I was able to detect the missing pieces once again and observing tremendous results on applying whatever strategies needed. Of course it is now realizing the critical shortage of services for adults once they age out of the school system. It is an ongoing mission crossing this bridge to proceed such as when A Call to Action is needed. Very glad you share on what you have accomplished for Elie to where he is at which is all good and may he continue to succeed with his roommate or the residential option setting and all that it involves to make sure he receives appropriate program/funds. did wonderful for a nice haircut on Tuesday and outing to the mall, no stress here. Ok, taking my nephews and see if was to tag along to bowl. Hoping he'll say " yes " as he has not shown anymore interest when this use to be one of his favorite activity. Not giving up, there is always hope. Guest guest
We still don't take Elie for haircuts. OF course I worry about infection possibilities but I also worry about his sitting long enough. or I do the modified military style with an electric razor which is just Elie's. HE does OK with that. He loved Xmas - his first time for visitng people with trees and excitement. But no overt Xmas at his house. He did refuse to let light his electric Haukiah [?][?] tried for 3 nights - Elie unplugged it each time - finally stuffed it in his closet. There was no Xmas tree either so I don't know what his issue was. My boy was a delight at the nursing homes - He told every one how pretty/handsome they were when he went on the day that they had a special Xmas day. HE also helped play Santa Claus altho he refused the hat!!! And everyone got a hug. I wish someone would take pictures for me. > Totally agree Sara, my emotions on the " What if's " when feeling this > way was such a learning curve and have moved on to seek on the trials > and errors of therapies and treatments I have pursued on this journey > even at an older age. > Most of the specialized services of a variety of choices to choose > from these days was not around as much in our community during these > rookie days for me. > I had to travel and learn what I could and very grateful I had the > opportunity to, wearing many hats thanks to many who did not mind > allowing me to empower myself with the trainings those who specialized > in certain interventions in the areas needed and still stay in touch > when needed. > This was such a blessing for me to get trained in the areas I have > tackled or encountered, especially now that he is older and of course > when confronting some major set backs with the underlying medical > issues he underwent. > Speak about finally bragging away of how much accomplishments and the > work applied then due his circumstances, all gone.
